In the Weimar Republic they basically had total confiscation

NSDAP party members basically had free reign on firearms ownership
Manufacturing and selling of course required a permit, that's normal and universal.
They have to make shit up because they can't believe people actually wanted Hitler in power

Roughly 50% of firearms used by the volksturm were NOT government issue, guns that the people already had.

Hand guns were still regulated but rifles and shotguns were basically gun show tier regulations
In the Weimar Republic, getting caught with a firearm meant 5 years in jail and a 100,000 mark fine
They changed it in 1928, but you had to "show a need for the permit" and "a person whose trustworthiness is not in question"
