Only a sprain in the ankle but was told I need 6 weeks off. Anyone have experience with a grade 2-3 ankle sprain?

R.I.C.E. every day, stay off it as long as you can

I used crutches after I got a similar level ankle sprain during a skydiving landing

Something has it out for you.

@Havamal still haven’t gotten the link ... I wonder what’s goin on?…………

Per the osteopath I saw for an ankle sprain two years ago, soft tissue injuries actually take 3 months to fully heal. Come back to your usual activities very cautiously after six weeks. I would continue to wear at least an ace bandage until the three months are up. During the six weeks a brace with metal supports to limit mobility is a good idea.

So what I’m hearing is I’m young and dumb for jumping back so soon? As long as I’m pain free I should be okay tho right? I planed on trying 40-50% on lifts tonight to gauge

@peytonT Tissue isn't healed even if it doesn't hurt. You're increasing your chances of creating a recurring injury, very common with sprained ankles.

We gon’ climb it 🅱ois

2018-02-28 00:40:27 UTC

So went and hit the gym and nothing hurts except when I walk in my bench setup but that’s an easy fix I’ll switch to my oly shoes and plant the heel

2018-02-28 00:41:13 UTC

Went ahead and hit my prescribed deadlifts and ohp for the day cause I felt good. Will take a light days before squats to be extra safe

2018-02-28 19:10:37 UTC

The lack of squat focus of my oly program took away my 315 PR low bar back squat. feelsbadman

2018-02-28 19:11:13 UTC

I think I'll pick the SS program back up in conjunction with my oly program which will basically have me lifting almost every day

2018-02-28 19:16:10 UTC

If you really want to get your squat up do a Smolov Jr cycle

2018-02-28 19:16:41 UTC

Got me from 400 to 500 by the end

2018-02-28 19:26:12 UTC

I'll check that out @BigBadSaxon - ID thanks

2018-02-28 19:26:51 UTC

It's a hellish couple months but you'll be the best at squatting you've ever been

2018-02-28 19:27:18 UTC

I'm long over my fear of squatting lol

2018-02-28 19:29:17 UTC

Smolov will make you fear again haha

2018-02-28 19:40:32 UTC

damn 10 sets of 3 at 85%

2018-02-28 19:40:33 UTC

sheeit

2018-02-28 19:41:56 UTC

The hard days were the 9 rep sets for me

2018-02-28 19:42:14 UTC

And just knowing that every day at the gym that squat bar is waiting for you

2018-02-28 19:42:25 UTC

Was terrifying and exhilirating

2018-02-28 19:43:03 UTC

Oh wait I was looking at the full smolov

2018-02-28 19:43:34 UTC

so the Jr is only 3 weeks? Is that enough to see improvement?

2018-02-28 19:44:02 UTC

I guess I can just pick up where the Jr left off and continue the full

2018-02-28 19:44:14 UTC

That's what I ended up doing

2018-02-28 19:44:38 UTC

We had to cut the full one short because of a deployment but the squat and overall body gains were unreal

2018-02-28 19:44:49 UTC

Smolov is real shit.

2018-02-28 19:45:00 UTC

awesome, did you gain any lean mass?

2018-02-28 19:45:31 UTC

I assume you were eating a lot, looks like a lot of volume to not be eating a ton for recovery
