i’m going to switch from bike to stairmaster tomorrow

2018-10-24 23:04:50 UTC

I have trouble with pull ups on account of my height (arm length) and weight. After two months serious lifting I can't even do one with good form. I noticed today my gym has a weight-assisted pull-up/dip machine. I'm doing to ditch dumbbell tricep kick backs and lat pull down (my form sucks) for use on this machine instead, and progressively lower counter-weight aide until I'm doing real pull-ups/dips.

Good plan

2018-10-24 23:11:25 UTC

I worked my way up with that back in the day

2018-10-24 23:39:39 UTC

@Wood-Ape - OK/MN how tall are you?

2018-10-24 23:55:10 UTC

empire state

2018-10-25 00:07:30 UTC

@Deleted User 6'9", although I may have shrunk to 6'8" due to manual labor and portaging canoes

2018-10-25 00:25:00 UTC

Just went to the gym for the first time in a year. I have like 0 muscle mass and a joint disorder so everything felt really awkward

2018-10-25 00:31:37 UTC

@NITRODUBS take it slow and light. Work on mobility and form, work up in weight

2018-10-25 00:33:02 UTC

My boyfriend is pretty knowledgeable on fitness im probably gonna have to get his help for form lmao

2018-10-25 05:57:00 UTC

this shit cracks me up

2018-10-25 15:37:40 UTC

@Parsifal keep on the bike, just turn up the intensity. Wear a heart rate monitor to make your efforts objective. Aim for a target heart rate or above for target time duration.

2018-10-27 00:32:37 UTC

is there a fitness server on slack

2018-10-27 01:25:54 UTC

@Pat-MA I believe there is

2018-10-27 04:07:02 UTC

There is not, we have a few channels for it on Mercury.

2018-10-27 04:07:19 UTC

So we can keep this server for now, and then just use Mercury at that time.

2018-10-28 19:03:15 UTC

Just got the women’s server to add a fitness section because I figured most men and woman exercise a little differently/ have different goals. Plus it’s more comfy for women to post progress pictures and such in a female exclusive area. I’ll probably still direct a lot of my fitness questions here tho until the women’s server gets a little more active

2018-10-28 19:08:48 UTC

@NITRODUBS yeah good call

2018-10-28 19:09:16 UTC

I got the idea because I wanted to post before and after pics then realized it probably wouldn’t be appropriate on a male dominated server lmao

2018-10-28 19:21:53 UTC

MALE DOMINATION

2018-10-28 19:22:02 UTC

AAAAAHHHHHHH 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

2018-10-28 19:23:28 UTC

@NITRODUBS Yeah, good initiative. Get that female fitness section active!

2018-10-28 19:25:18 UTC

REEE IM SO OPPRESSED!!!

2018-10-28 19:25:32 UTC

And I don’t think this server wants me spamming my yoga crap lmao

2018-10-28 19:26:04 UTC

@The Huwhyte Ulf - VA Is Arnold to be believed for people doing it natty, though? No way he wasn't on some kind of juice

2018-10-28 19:26:44 UTC

Of course he was. He said that was one of the reasons for coming to the states was for better drugs. But his work out motivation and routines are still valuable.

2018-10-28 19:27:17 UTC

Thats how I started lifting. My father followed him back when he was competing and taught me what he learned from Arnold.

2018-10-28 19:30:39 UTC

Starting Strength is one of the best plans to start with in my opinion.

2018-10-28 19:30:48 UTC

If one were looking for one to start

2018-10-28 19:34:04 UTC

@The Huwhyte Ulf - VA I started with the turk meme stronglifts 5x5 added with curls and pulls. kettlebell and runs on off days. I am seeing great progress but it may be many more months until I get really big

2018-10-28 19:34:53 UTC

I started with a month of keto too but now I am just at a generic low carb

2018-10-28 19:35:06 UTC

keto gave me gut distress

2018-10-28 19:40:50 UTC

I have a buddy that has been doing keto and has lost 20 lbs in a couple months. I dont think its for everyone though.

2018-10-28 19:41:22 UTC

I have tried different routines but always come back to super sets as Arnold speaks about.

2018-10-28 19:42:08 UTC

Chest/back, Biceps/Triceps integrate shoulders into either day. I also throw in some legs between the two days as well but sometimes just add a third day of legs.

2018-10-28 19:42:17 UTC

@The Huwhyte Ulf - VA Yeha I lost 30 but I was 300 to start

2018-10-28 19:42:35 UTC

Oh yes I always do weighted calf raises
