Hello. Can anyone recommend to me a book or series of books on the general history of Europe?

2018-01-19 02:48:06 UTC

@HernanCortes That’d be a fat ass series my dude

2018-01-19 03:29:01 UTC

Yeah I feared so

2018-01-19 03:29:36 UTC

I just don’t know where to begin. I think I heard Vox Day mention a series on one of his live streams?

2018-01-19 03:30:03 UTC

Sounded very good from what I remember but probably very long and expensive

2018-01-19 03:30:47 UTC

@HernanCortes Is there a particular region or period of interest?

2018-01-19 03:31:13 UTC

I suppose after the fall of Rome would do

2018-01-19 03:31:36 UTC

And Western Europe more so than Eastern Europe

2018-01-19 03:37:13 UTC

This isn't exactly what you're looking for, but it's definitely worth a read.

2018-01-19 03:37:43 UTC

Looks very interesting, thanks

2018-01-19 03:40:02 UTC

This is incredibly short, but hilarious. A mix of history/philosophy.

@HernanCortes If you're interested in reading primary sources I could gather a few works in the western canon for you to read. They are probably on PDF. Most contemporaneous accounts from medieval and early modern aren't too long either.

2018-01-26 04:08:58 UTC

Especially if you're interested in Crusades

2018-01-26 17:38:11 UTC

Yeah, that sounds like something I would be interested in

2018-01-26 17:38:39 UTC

After thinking it over for a while, though, I’d like some help finding books on the history of individual European nations/peoples

2018-01-26 17:38:46 UTC

I have a book on the history of Spain

2018-01-26 17:38:59 UTC

I’d like to get some on the history of the British isles and France, for example

2018-01-26 17:52:27 UTC

@HernanCortes

This is a great primer on the ideological and political forces that shaped modern France.

2018-01-26 17:56:38 UTC

I haven't read this yet, but came across and figured some might like to have it, supposedly the missing chapters of 200 Years Together:

@SamanthaM i am interested in a book on European history. I want something that is very broad based and general. A book that covers many major topics and events from a very high level. Basically i am looking for a book that is a mile wide and an inch deep so to speak. Do you have any in mind?

2018-02-18 00:19:26 UTC

@Zyzz Hmm. Lemme look through the collection.
