There were a lot of them during Peter the Great and Yekaterina in Russia.
there are still some streets in Ukraine with German names and houses, from the time when they had their own parts of cities
not sure how true that is in Russia
I grew up in the Southern part, near Ukraine. I don't remember having German anything down there. I think they settled along Volga?
