Hello! Glad to be here 📚
You guys still talking books?
Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned. These are my 23 sins
Is this channel dead, or does anyone want to read a book together?
Currently reading "The Republic for Which It Stands: The United States during Reconstruction and the Gilded Age, 1865-1896" by Richard White
@Nemets I think it'll pick back up when the school year picks up. This is also a great server for promoting the Guardian's program
Does anyone know what I can read on the US history? Something that can give me a good overview since I'd be starting with very basic knowledge (a foreigner here, don't judge).
@Nemets Hmm, all of them from the beginning? My knowledge is really rudimentary. Just need basic facts, with some analysis, what happened when and why.
wish there was a good book that summarized the entire history, but just too broad
Good ol' Wikipedia! Thank you, Nemets.
@Nemets It can't be Chapaev on your avatar. But that's who comes to mind.
just to let everyone know that Barnes and noble is going out of business soon they have beautiful leather bounded books for sale Too for 35 dollars
Barnes and Noble is going out of business??
Я редко встречаю людей, которые знают Чапаева
yes @Nota Bene - NY after this Christmas they are probably going to close up shop
Не то чтобы знаю. А вы русский?
I saw this happen to borders 10 years ago
That's crazy. I guess it's not that surprising. I should swing by a store, see if they have good sales.
Нет, я немец
I love leather bound books
There were a lot of them during Peter the Great and Yekaterina in Russia.
there are still some streets in Ukraine with German names and houses, from the time when they had their own parts of cities
