Yeah, I'm getting out soon.

2018-12-10 19:42:56 UTC

Yeah I've been selling off holdings for over a month and I pulled out my last holdings two weeks ago after I've been bleeding for months, just before the most recent cratering. The market does seem to be bouying on speculation that the fed is going to save it by not raising interest rates this tuesday or wednesday. I don't know what to make of that, but my short-term short position on S&P500 wasn't great this morning.

Maybe we'd be better off if Trump doesn't get reelected and some Democrat gets blamed for the next crash

2018-12-12 03:00:59 UTC

I’m betting they’ll crash the market before the 2020 election.

Classic rant on how the middle class spends way too much on automobiles.

@Tanner - SC I wonder what he would say about houses in NYC? I live here and renting is reasonably affordable but buying here seems insane, I just don't see how the numbers for that ever work out.

2018-12-16 21:24:29 UTC

Does anyone know a good budget program or app. I'm trying to get an idea of exactly where I stand and I'd like to make printable balance sheets.

2018-12-16 21:36:02 UTC

I know basic excel but I don't want to pay for it on my home computer.

2018-12-16 21:49:39 UTC

Office Libre is an Open source Office suite.

2018-12-16 21:49:56 UTC

It's Excel counterpart is capable

2018-12-16 22:08:36 UTC

Mint is the best thing i am aware of. Not sure if it’s printable though

2018-12-16 22:56:18 UTC

Thanks @Tanner - SC That's exactly what I was looking for.

2018-12-16 23:22:23 UTC

Did my budget. It hurts. I did notice a few areas where I am spending a lot more than I should be though. I spent almost $600 on fuel in November. Don't buy an F-250 and then use it for cross country trips guys.

2018-12-18 02:20:45 UTC

How about them stocks eh

2018-12-18 02:35:38 UTC

I'ts all on sale!

2018-12-18 02:48:11 UTC

@Ecarttev That's for sure! Do you trade options by the way?

2018-12-18 02:48:55 UTC

I don't. I mainly do index investing for retirement.

2018-12-18 02:49:28 UTC

Some times I'll take left over fun money and try individual stocks

2018-12-18 02:49:50 UTC

Smart! Any stocks or industries that you like to follow?

2018-12-18 02:50:33 UTC

Or particular indicies?

2018-12-18 02:50:52 UTC

I usually stick with indicies too, but just short term trades with futures and options mainly.

2018-12-18 02:51:40 UTC

I'm testing out ddf from Delaware Investments it's paid 10 cents amonth per share forever, and that seems to not be effected by price so much

2018-12-18 02:52:35 UTC

Wow nice it seems to be pretty stable for a stock.

2018-12-18 02:52:57 UTC

When you consider the consistent dividend too

2018-12-18 02:53:07 UTC

What is it like an REIT?

2018-12-18 02:54:46 UTC

oh I see, diversified equity portfolio

2018-12-18 02:54:49 UTC

I think it has some REITs in it, seems to have dividend stocks in it . it seems that they way they can hold it that stable is that don't give more out in good times to hold in reserve for lean times

2018-12-18 02:55:36 UTC

interesting! Yeah that dividend is great! 10 cents a share -> 1% paid out each month, that's like a 12% return each yeah. I might go ahead and pick some up too.

2018-12-18 02:56:07 UTC

I keep it in my Robinhood "Play" account

2018-12-18 02:57:11 UTC

haha sure why not. I did hear a recent scandal about RobinHood though.

2018-12-18 02:57:32 UTC

YUP, that whole "Banking" thing

2018-12-18 03:00:31 UTC

Yeah, did you notice how it was announced in kind of a rush on Thursday obviously without having their SIPC stuff in order yet? The rumor I've read, unreleased in any media outlets but seems to have been confirmed independently by screenshots on several forums, is that they were having a ton of tech problems last Wednesday, in particular they were trading Call options as Put options and vice-versa for a few hours on Wednesday. *If* that's confirmed true then RobinHood is on the hook for the money those people lost, and some people are speculating this "banking" account is a way for Robinhood to quickly beef up its cash to pay out to those people. This is apparently legal because their "banking" account is really just a kind of mutual fund that they make it easy to draw from.

2018-12-18 03:01:04 UTC

Skeevy

2018-12-18 03:01:20 UTC

There is always a catch, no free meals

2018-12-18 03:01:59 UTC

Yeah, but from what I've read this is supposedly kind of legal because it's not a real bank but a fund investor. "No free meals" yeah exactly.

2018-12-18 03:03:45 UTC

OOOOH. That's a black mark on them. in my eyes. Maybe I'll just transfer my stuff to my main Brokerage and close them.

2018-12-18 03:05:43 UTC

Yeah I hate to come in and say one broker is better than another, but that was huge alarm bells to me. If you want a very cheap broker there's TastyWorks, or Interactive Brokers. But if you're only trading a few times anyway then any broker should be good. I have a TastyWorks account but I only use Schwab and TDAmeritrade.

2018-12-18 03:06:39 UTC

Schwab is where I parked my Roth IRA.

2018-12-18 03:08:47 UTC

Yep same here, it's connected to my bank account too which is pretty convenient
