What is it like an REIT?

2018-12-18 02:54:46 UTC

oh I see, diversified equity portfolio

2018-12-18 02:54:49 UTC

I think it has some REITs in it, seems to have dividend stocks in it . it seems that they way they can hold it that stable is that don't give more out in good times to hold in reserve for lean times

2018-12-18 02:55:36 UTC

interesting! Yeah that dividend is great! 10 cents a share -> 1% paid out each month, that's like a 12% return each yeah. I might go ahead and pick some up too.

2018-12-18 02:56:07 UTC

I keep it in my Robinhood "Play" account

2018-12-18 02:57:11 UTC

haha sure why not. I did hear a recent scandal about RobinHood though.

2018-12-18 02:57:32 UTC

YUP, that whole "Banking" thing

2018-12-18 03:00:31 UTC

Yeah, did you notice how it was announced in kind of a rush on Thursday obviously without having their SIPC stuff in order yet? The rumor I've read, unreleased in any media outlets but seems to have been confirmed independently by screenshots on several forums, is that they were having a ton of tech problems last Wednesday, in particular they were trading Call options as Put options and vice-versa for a few hours on Wednesday. *If* that's confirmed true then RobinHood is on the hook for the money those people lost, and some people are speculating this "banking" account is a way for Robinhood to quickly beef up its cash to pay out to those people. This is apparently legal because their "banking" account is really just a kind of mutual fund that they make it easy to draw from.

Skeevy

2018-12-18 03:01:20 UTC

There is always a catch, no free meals

2018-12-18 03:01:59 UTC

Yeah, but from what I've read this is supposedly kind of legal because it's not a real bank but a fund investor. "No free meals" yeah exactly.

2018-12-18 03:03:45 UTC

OOOOH. That's a black mark on them. in my eyes. Maybe I'll just transfer my stuff to my main Brokerage and close them.

2018-12-18 03:05:43 UTC

Yeah I hate to come in and say one broker is better than another, but that was huge alarm bells to me. If you want a very cheap broker there's TastyWorks, or Interactive Brokers. But if you're only trading a few times anyway then any broker should be good. I have a TastyWorks account but I only use Schwab and TDAmeritrade.

2018-12-18 03:06:39 UTC

Schwab is where I parked my Roth IRA.

2018-12-18 03:08:47 UTC

Yep same here, it's connected to my bank account too which is pretty convenient

2018-12-18 15:43:04 UTC

How do we feel about marijuana stocks and the direction of the industry in general?

2018-12-18 18:13:19 UTC

Merchants of vice

2018-12-18 18:41:55 UTC

@Papa Pizzagate some people I know have liked CJC, but they say not to buy now saying it is overvalued. That being said, my personal policy is no Chinese stocks and no Marijuana stocks. Not out of principle, but because I can't trust the books of commies and potheads.

2018-12-18 18:59:26 UTC

Interesting theory. I feel like cronos is seriously undervalued given their growth, cash holdings, and their recent injection from Altria

2018-12-18 19:16:48 UTC

@Papa Pizzagate hey to be fair I may regret my thought on their books, those crazy cannibis cravers have certainly created a cash cow, I just don't know anything if there's still room to grow

2018-12-18 19:17:51 UTC

Yeah what are the ones I always hear about. Canopy, .."Tarp" I think, and CRON

2018-12-18 19:54:14 UTC

I'll have to think about it, thank you.

2018-12-21 19:22:59 UTC

For all the AAPL stock holders:

oosh yeah.

2018-12-23 06:31:12 UTC

OTC is king now

2018-12-25 05:28:53 UTC

@Papa Pizzagate "Tilray" was the other weed stock I was thinking of, not "tarp"

2018-12-25 07:05:19 UTC

Interesting..

2018-12-25 07:05:37 UTC

I hear slack wants to go public. In 2019

2018-12-25 21:33:39 UTC

@Papa Pizzagate Interesting, their direct competitor, HipChat, is part of Atlassian, a suite of related development tools, which is publicly traded under TEAM. I wonder how a Slack stock would compare.

Hey everyone

I’m doing some tax planning for myself in 2019 (I’m also a CPA), if anyone wants any advice on tax planning or just generally personal financial planning I’d be happy to discuss here or in DMs.

2019-01-02 00:27:27 UTC

@everyone ^^

2019-01-05 21:12:25 UTC

@ThisIsChris am i remembering right, but i think you said some time ago that you use money markets at Schwab. Do you have ones you like?

2019-01-05 21:14:32 UTC

@Ecarttev It's hard to go wrong with SCHD, that's their dividend payer's fund. There's also SCHB (Broad US market based fund), SCHE (Emerging Markets Fund), and SCHZ (Bond fund) that are worth checking out.

2019-01-05 21:14:55 UTC

There's are all Schwab run ETFs so Schwab doesn't charge commissions when buying or selling them either.

2019-01-05 21:16:44 UTC

dope, thanks

2019-01-12 23:23:05 UTC

@Tanner - SC I'm looking at your link from Dec 9 about Harry Dent. Is he legit, partially legit, or questionable? I went on his twitter and it is indistinguishable from the tier of metals market zero hedge ads you see claiming "do x and y NOW before the collapse!"

2019-01-12 23:24:06 UTC

I was thinking about getting his Zero Hour book but then I saw how he operates like a huckster, seemingly buying this interview on fox business

2019-01-13 03:04:37 UTC

I don’t buy anything from the gold hucksters, but I do think they have useful commentary on the current state of the economy. Most people are far too optimistic about the future of such a manipulated and debt riddled economy and these guys provide a useful counter balance. I lean toward their way of thinking, though I find crypto to fulfill the use case of gold while also allowing the electronic transfer ease of modern payment systems without resorting to trading warehouse receipts like the inevitable result of gold used as currency.
