lol this takes me way back
Win XP Master race
> Running bitcoin node for the past month
> Data usage is high
> Internet starts running extremely slowly
> Darn ISP is throttling me, I'll call to complain
> "Sir, have you tried rebooting your PC, modem, and router?"
> "Aw heck, it's been running fine for 3 months straight, you're probably throttling me, that's the simplest trick in the book, but just to please you I'll do it anyway"
> Reboot and internet is screaming fast again
> "Well, uh ... that worked. Thanks"
> Feel like idiot as girl tech support just beat me me with the oldest trick in the book "have you tried turning it off and turning it back on again?"
Either that, or she removed the throttling because I complained and she lied when she said there was no throttling in the first place.
Same thing happened to me when I had high data usage. I tried the "unplug it, plug it back in" technique with no luck. Had to call them and then that technique worked.
Lol
<@&435155896780324864> So I'm ready to buy a VPN. Can you guys recommend one please?
James Allsup recommends virtual shield.
@Deleted User yeah like @The Huwhyte Ulf - VA There's Virtual Shield. Another one I hear people such as @Deleted User recommend is NordVPN
Bearing recommends virtual shield too
And its cheap too
Like $10 a month or something iirc
Thanks lads
@Deleted User I'm using NordVPN and have been happy with it on my laptop, tablet, and smartphone. $79.00 for two years right now. The quick connect/disconnect on mobile devices is nice and you can set up kill switches if you want.
FrootVPN has worked well for my torrenting needs. They're pretty cheap.
You can pay in bitcoin.
I went with NordVPN mainly because Virtual Shield offered "premium content" packages for extra money per month, which made me think that the basic package might not be that good
Plus NordVPN sounds cooler.
That's the real reason, right?
@Rogue I've always suspected that was the REAL reason
i have an android phone with a busted screen, making it unusable. i'd like to pull some photos off of it, but i don't know how. plugging into a computer won't do anything because there's a prompt on the phone asking for permission to connect, which I can't press. what are my options?
sim card?
not sim card. the other thing that androids often use.
SD
All the files are stored on the phones internal memory
@TV Save the phone until you can find a broken one to borrow the screen from, it's a thin ribbon cable, may take forever, but may be transplantable 🤷🏼♂️
Possible @TV that a phone repair place would have a donor screen solely for data transfer.
That's a good idea
Its a few years old I could probably find one cheap
What model?
Alternative possibility: https://youtu.be/onp0Zrr5HVc
$4 @TV
I can't use the screen at all.
Bummer, maybe attach it to a Wacom tablet or something?
Yikes
That's what I'm working with
You need an external screen for sure
Looking into replacing the screen was a good idea
Best wishes. Going to bed. Early day tomorrow. Later dude.
