Not a bad sign...

2019-02-06 04:03:07 UTC

I’ll be putting 80 miles on it tomorrow, hopefully that cleans it up more.

2019-02-06 04:03:30 UTC

New place is 4 miles from my work and school so haven’t done much driving I guess.

2019-02-06 04:03:53 UTC

Nice.

They still make them in Portugal and Japan for MENA and the pacific islands/aus respectively.

2019-02-17 03:04:06 UTC

They're somewhat modernized now and beautiful...

2019-02-19 04:02:20 UTC

Anybody interested in doing a gambler500 or 24 hours of lemons in maybe 2020 or 2021?

2019-02-19 12:17:34 UTC

Could be fun. My roommate does junk car races in the winter.

2019-02-25 04:23:58 UTC

@Sonic been watching alot of videos lately - how's that Tracker offroad?

2019-02-25 04:24:03 UTC

Been looking into one.

2019-02-25 04:30:04 UTC

It's great man, there's really not much I can't get through in it. Fully stock with aggressive tires. It's light with a short wheel base, no bottoming out or getting high centered. Obviously, major rock crawling would cause a few issues with it being stock, but my co worker has a 2" lift with larger wheels/tires and he takes his '96 crawling all the time.

2019-02-25 04:32:13 UTC

I've been off-roading a couple times with him, and never ran into any issues. She's a little beast. And, relatively easy to work on too. @Papa Pizzagate Coworker usually airs down his tires when we go into the mountains, but I don't touch mine. I've even done some creek crossings in it (about 2' deep) fully stock. The off-road world loves Trackers.

2019-02-25 04:39:10 UTC

Yeah, that's what I thought. I would look into a moderate lift and better wheels/tires

2019-02-25 05:01:51 UTC

Even though they are nearly identical cars, I like the look of the Suzuki Sidekick better and would prefer to buy one of them

2019-02-26 19:30:58 UTC

They're almost identical. All the parts in the tracker are Suzuki parts. In fact, they even share the same Chilton/Haynes manual.

2019-02-26 22:11:08 UTC

Yeah, I am aware. Just like most of the lines/paint jobs on the zooks a bit more

2019-03-02 22:06:57 UTC

Recently when I take a sharp turn in my car, like around a traffic circle my engine starts sounding harsh, and I can replicate it at will. My thought is that it's time for new oil, but I'm not certain.

2019-03-02 22:07:18 UTC

Does anyone have an idea of what it could be?

2019-03-02 22:29:55 UTC

@Ecarttev year, make, model?

2019-03-02 22:30:36 UTC

Does it sound like the engine or could it be something else from the front end?

2019-03-02 22:30:59 UTC

Do you notice loss of power, or is it just a noise?

2019-03-02 22:31:47 UTC

How would you describe the noise. The more details, the better :^)

2019-03-02 22:35:02 UTC

2011 Hyundai Elantra

2019-03-03 00:04:28 UTC

Hmm, no loss of power, and I'm certain it's the engine. It sounds kinda like it does when starting on a cold day

2019-03-03 03:35:21 UTC

If you haven't changed your oil + filter in some time, I would go for it and see if it changes things - you mention that it might be about time

2019-03-03 03:36:00 UTC

should be a regular maintenance item for you anyhow

2019-03-03 03:36:27 UTC

If the problem persists post oil +filter change, let me know and we can start troubleshooting.

2019-03-03 22:10:49 UTC

@everyone

What is the best vehicle that you've ever owned and why?

2019-03-03 22:11:10 UTC

Myself, I have owned several rides in my life, a Volvo 850turbo sedan, a 2nd Gen Honda CR-V, A late 90's BMW 3 series, A Honda Shadow 500, a Pontiac Vibe (Toyota Matrix) and possibly one or two rides that I am forgetting - but my favorite vehicle that I ever owned was my 1992 Mercedes 300D 124 body with that had a small turbo.

At the time that I acquired it, it already had 170k miles on it, but it reliably carried me to 298 THOUSAND miles before giving up the ghost. It was previously owned by a friend of my father's who did not want to replace the dying transmission.
Fortunately for me, my father had the EXACT transmission sitting in his back yard. 500 for the vehicle, 250 for the transmission and two weekends of work gave me a car that lasted ~7 years and ~140k miles. The rising costs of diesel fuel as compared to gasoline (modern vehicles now having comparable gasoline efficiency) as well as the increasing expense and rarity of parts forced my hand in deciding to sell it off when the engine decided to give up the ghost.

Never-the-less it was spacious inside, had a fairly luxurious interior, handled remarkable well in the snow for being a HEAVY rear wheel drive car, was an incredibly smooth and comfy ride and was above all - tremendously reliable. The 124 body was one of the last great cars Mercedes ever made in my opinion. Though I have no use for one now - if I came across an exceptionally clean model in the future, I would seriously have to consider purchasing it.

2019-03-03 22:11:37 UTC

As it aged, it became progressively less reliable, but if I'm honest, I DO miss that car sometimes...

2019-03-03 22:13:44 UTC

I had a Hyundai Santa Fe that I drove during my last year of school, i had to commute from Wilmington nc to Goldsboro 2x per week for an 8:00-8:50 class

2019-03-03 22:14:14 UTC

2019-03-03 22:16:19 UTC

It had belonged to my mom, I sold my f150 since gas was like $5 per gallon then, that Hyundai had about 260k on it when I started driving it, somewhere around the 300k mark the timing belt broke, RIP 2 cylinders. I have a feeling that if the timing belt had been changed when it was supposed to have been, that car would still be on the road

2019-03-03 22:17:26 UTC

Those korean cars have come a long way. I would buy one now, whereas a decade ago, I would probably not.

2019-03-03 22:17:34 UTC

Do you recall the year @Px4?

2019-03-03 22:18:33 UTC

Had to have been early 2000’s, probably an 03-04. It died on me in 2010
