Front right caliper was somewhat seized on my daily driver. Wore the pad down to the point of (very nearly) metal on metal to the rotor.

Only on the front driver side - comparison to the passenger side:

As soon as I noticed the sound of brake grinding, I drove as little as possible, babying the brakes as much as I could until I made it up to my my dad's shop to fix. Even so it was close call. Replacement ceramic brakes are $30 - replacement rotors and brakes are well over 150, often much more. (just parts, labor not included) If you hear brake grinding, address it as soon as possible.

Anyone experienced with working on F-250s? I have a question regarding brake fluid exchange / brake bleed...

I had my truck in for various service, including a brake fluid exchange. Recently it was in for something else, and my dad sent me photos (it's a couple states away right now) of what he said are the bolts you loosen to bleed the brake fluid, and there is apparently no evidence that they have been turned at all. They are still evenly rusted. So I'm wondering, is there an alternate way that a Ford dealer would do a brake fluid exchange that does not involve those bolt heads at all?

You don't have to always bleed your brakes. Did air get in the line? Or is your brake pedal really soft, @wolfwood

And yes, you don't use the bleeder valve to change your brake fluid.

It was a matter of not knowing the service history of a truck with >100k miles on it...I had them do all sorts of stuff

Oh ok. Not everyone bleeds them these days.
If the brakes work, you don't have to push the pedal to the floor, I'd say they are fine.

OK as long as it's more likely they did the service than not. The brakes work just fine now. They were not so great when I got it 😉

Hahaha I changed my brakes and rotors on Thursday.
I would say they did change it the fluid. That's a huge liability when it comes to brakes...

More recently I had them do upper and lower ball joints and tie rods, because there was play in ball joints, and steering was pretty floaty. Unfortunately I haven't been able to test drive it yet, but my dad says steering is pretty tight now and feels right.

I'm really missing my truck...just waiting on shipper to say they have a guy
