It's only a buzzing sound and eventually, it is not detectible if I walk far enough away.

Actual fuses or breakers?

@John O - My elderly, White father-in-law stopped by and took a look. He said it was just the transformer making noise, which was normal and nothing to worry about.

@Rick uhhhhhhhh

Transformers are outside the house

He may have misnamed it or I might be misspeaking, but he is pretty good as far as DIY handymen go and advised me not to worry.

Thanks, though!

Can anyone give advice on cleaning refrigerator condenser coils?

Not much to it really, I do my garage/beer fridge once a year if I remember, I usually just unplug it, slide it away from the wall, and go over it with the shop vac brush attachment. Don’t go crazy and bend the coil or cooling fins, other than that it’s pretty straightforward tbh.

@apronandlace If you are really worried about it, and have the capability to do a wet clean, you could try WEB Condenser Coil Cleaner (sold at Home Depot, etc.). You spray it on, it foams up, you rinse it off. I used some on my truck's condenser and it worked OK. They claim it's safe for pets and biodegradeable, but you would want to unplug the appliance, have plenty of fresh air moving thru, and wear gloves and eye protection.

And avoid painted surfaces

thanks. i think it went well. I got a fridge coil brush and unplugged the fridge was gentle and did get a lot of dog hair out of there from the previous homeowner's dog.

What was the fridge doing that made you look at the coil?

2019-01-06 16:47:53 UTC

just read that you're supposed to clean the condenser coils every six months to keep the fridge working well

I have a fridge that's working a bit TOO well in the winter months

2019-01-08 03:21:08 UTC

Set to 4/9 with 9/9 being coldest, it freezes up the food...so I set it to 1/9

The company I work for is hiring Wind Turbine Technicians. DM me for more details. <@&435155897363202058>

Tfw break time turned into a political shouting match between the journeymen

Usually the shouting matches at my site are just different guys calling each other gay

Update on the fridge:
>long-term slow leak
>fix too expensive
>need new fridge

So we have electric heat here. Baseboard. We got a thermostat installed a few months ago and since then, when we turn the heat up, it makes a noticeable buzzing noise. It lasts for about 10 seconds, stops for about 3-5 seconds, then lasts for another 10 seconds and repeats the cycle. Only stops when we turn the temperature down. Anyone have info on how to fix this?

2019-03-06 02:25:16 UTC

Did they just replace an old thermostat, or did they wire in a new one?
