The high-capacity microSD card will need to be formatted FAT32 to work.

With Rockbox, this little player supports almost every digital music format known to man. Gapless playback for the popular formats. Damn good volume too.

I've played back a 192KHz FLAC file using this thing. May have been 24 bit too. It can also play multi-channel FLAC and downmix to stereo.

ONE CAVEAT: You have to go easy on the headphone jack. It you abuse it, it will break. I got a refurb player and ended up soldering in my own headphone input cable.

I propose a twist on β€œbuy it for life”. This is a β€œbuy it for *protecting* life.”
All you car drivers ... what vehicle do you want to be in when the mom behind you on the highway in the Suburban gets distracted for a few seconds by her kids? When vehicles collide, do you want to be the golf club or the golf ball? Spend the extra money and buy a bigger vehicle to protect you and your loved ones. Vehicular collisions are the #1 cause of death and injury to healthy whites.

Unfortunately it isn't really mine. I just got to drive it last night.

<@&403278493468852237> I feel like my electric shaver barely shaves. My dad insists that I'm just using it incorrectly, and if I used it every day it'll work fine. Even when I shave when it's already short and press really hard, it still leaves a lot. Do electric shavers actually suck this much? Is there a chance I just have a bad one? Could I just be using it wrong? How much does it cost to buy one that doesn't suck?

2018-10-03 19:56:06 UTC

I always have to use an electric shaver and a disposable

2018-10-06 01:55:47 UTC

@Jacob i can't use electric razors, parents always use to get em for me as a teen. Didnt do Jack shit had to use it fir an hour to get anything done. Always stuck with 3 blade bics or the like

2018-10-06 03:10:04 UTC

A Braun series 7.

2018-10-06 06:10:30 UTC

traditional safety razor is the way to go!!! 😎

2018-10-06 10:10:35 UTC

Once you've used a trad single blade razor you can't go back to pleb tier disposable.

Since we are on the topic of a great shave, I recently read this article and found a few great products through it. https://www.realmenrealstyle.com/best-shave-of-your-life/

OneBlade seems to be quite interesting. The quality and long term affordability of a safety razor with quality materials and engineering as well as the glide and flexibility of the better cartridge razors.

Brickell has natural products, no animal testing, and offers free sample kits.

2018-12-19 23:45:47 UTC

I'll probably start using both products after I use up my current stuff.

2018-12-20 19:05:55 UTC

@Matthias I've seen the OneBlade and have been interested in it... may have to pick one up for using in the field when i dont have time for my usual wet shave

Old fashioned safety razor and a good old fashioned wet shave πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Anyone have experience with latex mattresses? Looking at Spindle

2019-01-27 19:52:29 UTC

@apronandlace I purchased one about 10-11 years ago from Denver Mattress. It didn't breath well and retained more heat than I've ever encountered in a bed (I own a Tempur-Pedic now). The foam also began to have noticeable body impressions after a few years. Perhaps the technology has greatly improved since then, but I wasn't a fan.

2019-02-07 02:57:08 UTC

This is a nice table but is it really worth $1,250? https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0725KFTBN/

2019-02-07 02:57:44 UTC

All my furniture is quite cheap so I don't have much perspective on the issue

2019-02-07 13:55:48 UTC

Ethan Allen is a good brand. The pricing seems inline with their other furniture. I assume this is meant to be a permanent piece?

2019-02-07 19:24:23 UTC

@Ecarttev Yeah I was looking up what I could replace some of my current plastic furniture from kmart with. It would replace a 40 dollar fold up picnic table we have out in the living room. At these prices I might just squash any ideas of upgrading from my functional plastic furniture πŸ˜…

2019-02-07 19:27:36 UTC

I feel you. I've got my eye on some "team 7" tables, but at this point it's aspirational.

2019-02-07 19:27:52 UTC

You're metro area?

2019-02-07 19:30:50 UTC

@Ecarttev yep. and part of the motivation for me to stick with cheap furniture is that since I rent where I live, cheap furniture makes it easier for me to move if part of that move involves throwing something out (and cheap furniture tends to be lighter in general). (And yes I'm embarassed this sounds like a gypsy.)

2019-02-07 19:31:50 UTC

Hey, I'm with my parents still, saving up for a house. No judgement.

2019-02-07 19:34:40 UTC

Smart! Glad to hear it 😁

2019-02-14 00:10:40 UTC

I still use a fold-up table as a dining table; I just put nice tablecloths and a candle centerpiece, on it, and it looks nice.

2019-02-14 02:24:34 UTC

Duct tape.

2019-02-16 20:34:24 UTC

I've been trying out these bamboo toothbrushes...they're not bad! Each handle is numbered. Better for the environment than throwing out plastic ones. Supposedly bamboo has some anti-bacterial properties, too.
