Understood. Thanks for the tips.

@BryceB-ND What are your thoughts on the 5.0+ cu-ft washers?

2018-09-08 22:09:00 UTC

They can double as a swimming pool

2018-09-08 22:09:36 UTC

It sounds like they just made the tub deeper, so that could make for a very heavy load on the motor, plus maybe not wash as well since the top clothes are so far away from the mini agitator at the bottom and might not get fully turned over in the wash.

2018-09-08 22:09:46 UTC

lol idk, I think at that point unless you have a 10 person family or a lot of dogs, something along those lines, they're unnessecary

2018-09-08 22:10:00 UTC

4.5cuft should do everything you need it to do

2018-09-08 22:10:07 UTC

But if the appliance will last me several years, I plan to have many children, so I might have a huge amount of laundry to do in 5 years.

2018-09-08 22:10:52 UTC

Funny, I was typing that before I read the "10 person family". #LifeGoals

2018-09-08 22:10:53 UTC

The impeller in HE machines are less designed to turn the clothes over like the agitators

2018-09-08 22:10:58 UTC

hah

2018-09-08 22:11:01 UTC

Well there ya go

2018-09-08 22:12:17 UTC

If a ton of strain is placed on the machine mechanically, like its jumping around too much, the bearings will go about before the motor usually

2018-09-08 22:12:46 UTC

The new Speed Queens have an agitator that's rigid mounted to the tub, so the agitator cannot move independent of the tub. Has anyone else done something so radical? They just rely on rotating the tub back and forth and the speed of the water to push the clothes into the agitator.

2018-09-08 22:13:41 UTC

Hah what the heck

2018-09-08 22:13:57 UTC

They don't sell Speed queens at Lowes, where I worked briefly when I moved, so I'm not too familiar with them

If you love music and want to carry your entire collection around on a budget, I recommend a Sansa Clip Plus (~$100) + Rockbox firmware ( https://www.rockbox.org/download/ ) + 200GB ($62) or larger microSD memory card.

The high-capacity microSD card will need to be formatted FAT32 to work.

2018-09-12 05:32:22 UTC

With Rockbox, this little player supports almost every digital music format known to man. Gapless playback for the popular formats. Damn good volume too.

I've played back a 192KHz FLAC file using this thing. May have been 24 bit too. It can also play multi-channel FLAC and downmix to stereo.

ONE CAVEAT: You have to go easy on the headphone jack. It you abuse it, it will break. I got a refurb player and ended up soldering in my own headphone input cable.

I propose a twist on “buy it for life”. This is a “buy it for *protecting* life.”
All you car drivers ... what vehicle do you want to be in when the mom behind you on the highway in the Suburban gets distracted for a few seconds by her kids? When vehicles collide, do you want to be the golf club or the golf ball? Spend the extra money and buy a bigger vehicle to protect you and your loved ones. Vehicular collisions are the #1 cause of death and injury to healthy whites.

Unfortunately it isn't really mine. I just got to drive it last night.

<@&403278493468852237> I feel like my electric shaver barely shaves. My dad insists that I'm just using it incorrectly, and if I used it every day it'll work fine. Even when I shave when it's already short and press really hard, it still leaves a lot. Do electric shavers actually suck this much? Is there a chance I just have a bad one? Could I just be using it wrong? How much does it cost to buy one that doesn't suck?

2018-10-03 19:56:06 UTC

I always have to use an electric shaver and a disposable

2018-10-06 01:55:47 UTC

@Jacob i can't use electric razors, parents always use to get em for me as a teen. Didnt do Jack shit had to use it fir an hour to get anything done. Always stuck with 3 blade bics or the like

2018-10-06 03:10:04 UTC

A Braun series 7.

2018-10-06 06:10:30 UTC

traditional safety razor is the way to go!!! 😎

2018-10-06 10:10:35 UTC

Once you've used a trad single blade razor you can't go back to pleb tier disposable.

Since we are on the topic of a great shave, I recently read this article and found a few great products through it. https://www.realmenrealstyle.com/best-shave-of-your-life/

2018-12-19 23:44:34 UTC

OneBlade seems to be quite interesting. The quality and long term affordability of a safety razor with quality materials and engineering as well as the glide and flexibility of the better cartridge razors.

2018-12-19 23:45:31 UTC

Brickell has natural products, no animal testing, and offers free sample kits.

2018-12-19 23:45:47 UTC

I'll probably start using both products after I use up my current stuff.

2018-12-20 19:05:55 UTC

@Matthias I've seen the OneBlade and have been interested in it... may have to pick one up for using in the field when i dont have time for my usual wet shave

2019-01-02 22:16:01 UTC

Old fashioned safety razor and a good old fashioned wet shave 👌🏻

Anyone have experience with latex mattresses? Looking at Spindle

2019-01-27 19:52:29 UTC

@apronandlace I purchased one about 10-11 years ago from Denver Mattress. It didn't breath well and retained more heat than I've ever encountered in a bed (I own a Tempur-Pedic now). The foam also began to have noticeable body impressions after a few years. Perhaps the technology has greatly improved since then, but I wasn't a fan.

This is a nice table but is it really worth $1,250? https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0725KFTBN/
