Good morning @everyone. I want to share something pretty autistic and pretty personal with you. I’m a big believer in consistent self-improvement, and in keeping a balance of academic, physical, and spiritual pursuits. I’m an older lad, and settled down, so I have time to engage in these pursuits. This is a pic is a little diagram I’ve prepared to show you how I pursue this balance, and I provide it so that maybe you can use it as a model to balance your own pursuits. If you do, and are comfortable sharing them, I would love to see them. You'll have to click on "open in original" to be able to read it I think.

@Deleted User yes you have to open in browser.

2017-09-24 12:51:27 UTC

This is pretty intense. Maintaining this consistently takes extreme discipline

2017-09-24 13:13:54 UTC

It's really just a two-hour a day commitment for everything, with room for a once per week break. So I agree the tricky part for guys is probably going to be maintaining it in the long run, to stay focused on your our paths over months and years.

I thought I was a freak for thinking this way, too. People often call me a Renaissance man, and sometimes question me when I state what "I'm in to". It's great to see other people making sure they are well rounded. Even with all that said, I often feel as if I could and should do more.

My spiritual brother in PA is like this in a different way.

2017-09-25 01:59:36 UTC

He has a family, but can often out perform his childless peers handily.

2017-09-25 02:01:00 UTC

My grandma who was raised in the Third Reich was taught to be well rounded and productive, while still maintaining a feminine aura.

2017-09-25 02:02:59 UTC

Thanks for sharing this, brother.

2017-09-25 02:44:04 UTC

@Deleted User I just typed mine up. I have a binder/daily planner I coordinate this all through. Every sunday I plan out my weekly goals and everynight before bed I plan out my next day.

Ill also be looking into the books you mentioned, thanks.

2017-09-25 09:39:07 UTC

@Bayernmensch#6240 Thanks brother I am glad to know there are other guys who believe in this approach. There's still plenty of time in the day to specialize, but I feel like we should have a broad foundation.

2017-09-25 09:40:49 UTC

@Brandon Ironside- ND That's perfect! I'd really encourage more guys - especially the younger guys - to come @here, have a look at your document, and do a similar write-up.

2017-09-25 09:41:16 UTC

i should do this

2017-09-25 09:41:49 UTC

Aye brother. These outlines can be really helpful.

2017-09-25 11:40:53 UTC

@Deleted User Its hard for me to put into words how much of a postive impact having long term goals, broken into short term, then implemented on a weekly/daily basis has had. Just remember: small action every day/week + long time period = big change. I could write pages on this but im guessing most people dont need advice from a internet fashy Tony Robbins knockoff haha.

2017-09-25 12:22:22 UTC

I suspect quite a few of us could write volumes on this. I get called a Renaissance man too, because of obvious reasons. I think it's valuable for you, me, others like us to write about these things, and why we are like this, and why it's valuable for our people, our culture, etc. Men of a certain caliber had much more expected of them in the past, in terms of breadth. The environment *demanded* much more of them. Specialization and the comforts of the modern world made that less crucial. Providing your own take on the ways and means to be all you can be and are, again, has value. Your writing may resonate with someone where Tony Robbins or others, or my writing, may not resonate. And inspire and guide and assist those for whom it does.

2017-09-25 12:37:00 UTC

@Why Tea I find myself agreeing with your words, I'll mull over some ideas!

2017-09-25 12:39:20 UTC

*Men of a certain caliber had much more expected of them in the past, in terms of breadth. The environment demanded much more of them.* Awesome lines.

2017-09-25 12:39:43 UTC

@Deleted User Maybe a members articles channel may be useful, where members can write articles, you can act like an editer, then post them all to an articles channel? just an idea

2017-09-25 12:40:42 UTC

Interesting idea - wha kinds of articles are you thinking?

2017-09-25 12:42:51 UTC

basically typed topics that don't fit anywhere else, for example an article "self improvement from a European perspective" comes to mind after the recent discussion.

2017-09-25 12:43:57 UTC

I don't know how many others are interested in writing though

2017-09-25 12:44:45 UTC

I would take a swing at that article and others could too, get different perspectives

2017-09-25 12:47:53 UTC

I'll move this to sme

2017-09-25 15:06:04 UTC

Excellent goal listing @Brandon Ironside- ND

2017-09-25 15:07:57 UTC

After seeing our other server on both of your lists, I'd like to mention to @everyone that if you are interested in our ancestors heritage please send me a DM and I'll invite you to the Northern European Spirituality server I run with some great people.

2017-09-25 15:09:15 UTC

We cover Germanic/Nordic, Celtic, Slavic cultures, and have weekly chats where we discuss lore, Spirituality, community, and a lot more.

2017-09-25 15:10:32 UTC

Thanks for the invite @Deleted User

2017-09-25 15:10:37 UTC

We have a hike planned in WV in October, and a few Midwest meet ups soon.

2017-09-25 15:10:40 UTC

Awesome server!

Hi!!

2017-09-25 15:11:48 UTC

Welcome @Volkmom

2017-09-25 15:12:02 UTC

Thank you!

2017-09-26 02:50:31 UTC

Ok. Don't ban me for this one Haha. But can we have an environment channel? Immigration is destroying land and the massive sprawl. A lot of good groups doing positive work and I feel this is a great way to work towards getting environmentalist back into no population growth.

2017-09-26 02:52:08 UTC

Avoid the Sierra club. The Nature Conservancy is great. In each State there are other groups geared to local issues etc. Numbersusa.com pushes the environment issue regarding immigration as well.

2017-09-26 02:53:33 UTC

And why can't I post in gardening lessons? @moderator
