I’m studying for my state plumbing license now. It’s seriously boring as hell and I hope I never get a chance to use it.

2017-11-28 19:56:17 UTC

Plumbing is good honest work. Single plumbers in NYC are knocking back $200k a year.

2017-11-28 19:56:58 UTC

Yea I work with and am friends with them, it’s just not my thing.

2017-11-28 19:57:49 UTC

Right on. Well try another trade, I've worked in all the trades. Found I like carpentry the best.

2017-11-28 19:58:16 UTC

I’m a pipe welder

2017-11-28 19:59:10 UTC

I’m doing the pipe fitter apprenticeship so when I get old and blind I’ll know how to fit.

2017-11-28 20:00:57 UTC

Haha I feel you there. You should try to get a job in an auto plant, if there's one close. Maintenance in a plant like that is sweet as.

2017-11-28 20:01:35 UTC

I would love a nice maintenance job

2017-11-28 20:04:04 UTC

Me too. I love what I do, but the benefits would be nice. And the slower pace would be great.

2017-11-28 20:26:36 UTC

Are you up north?

2017-11-28 20:27:39 UTC

No, I'm in Kentucky

2017-11-28 20:44:23 UTC

I was thinking about electrical maintenance when I get old at a Ford plant or something

2017-11-28 20:44:41 UTC

Move to the Midwest or Middle South and just kick back

2017-11-28 21:01:20 UTC

@John O - right. My dad was the maintenance superintendent of Ford Louisville Automotive Plant. He retired 2 years ago and is getting ready to go back in a couple of weeks making ridiculous money.
My cousin is a machinist and started at Ford Kentucky Truck Plant making really good money, he's 34 and set for life.
My older brother started a few years ago just working the line and he has 4 kids and a stay at home wife.
The automotive industry is good shit. If you want to move to KY I can get you a referral 😂

2017-11-28 21:01:56 UTC

And I love Henry Ford's views of the Jews😂

2017-11-28 21:02:06 UTC

@Deleted User also I forgot to mention: the best thing you can do to help the academic channels is to post things you're interested in!

2017-12-04 17:10:26 UTC

Add channels for programming and language-learning

Progress on the first one. Anyone got tips or tricks? Waiting for a hook knife to come in from Amazon so I can finish up the hollowing. For roughing I've been using a gouge with the kuksa wedged into a log, as I don't have a vice here yet

2017-12-05 12:21:08 UTC

@RevStench and a few other guys should be able to give you a few pointers

2017-12-05 12:35:59 UTC

@nils awesome. I'm working on some carving myself. I'm making a sign for a member, I don't carve often enough to give pointers though.
