If you maintain your Striaght Razor it will last a Lifetime

2018-08-29 22:32:25 UTC

What do you do and use to maintain it?

2018-08-29 22:35:13 UTC

Lapping compound, a good metal treatment oil and a 3" by 10" piece of glass with construction paper backing

2018-08-29 22:37:33 UTC

I’m going to look into this more and do some research, thanks @V.Balboa - PA!

2018-08-29 22:38:40 UTC

no problem once you go Old school you will never use a Mach3/shick Virgin shaver again

If you have any more questions just shoot me a DM

2018-08-29 22:49:40 UTC

I keep my beard at a 3 or 4 with a trimmer. I never do a proper clean shave, but I can get away with it as a tradesmen.

2018-08-29 22:54:26 UTC

I used to use a electric trimmer but now im a Ultra-clean shave kind of guy

2018-08-30 03:49:45 UTC

There's an art of shaving close to me, how much are the strait razors?

2018-08-30 03:50:07 UTC

Always wanted to learn how do the trad shave

2018-08-30 03:50:35 UTC

TBH get a safety razor, a Merkur, and buy blades, I recommend Feather, or if you want to go cheap, Sword I think

2018-08-30 03:51:19 UTC

Straight are nice for cutting cool designs in your face and going to work covered in toilet paper balls, but not ideal.

2018-08-30 03:51:24 UTC

haha

2018-08-30 03:51:44 UTC

Yeah I have a safety razor now, is there that much of a difference?

2018-08-30 03:52:27 UTC

You can get a closer shave with a straight, but when it comes to time and maintenance...no thanks

2018-08-30 03:53:57 UTC

I think I have this one

2018-08-30 03:54:46 UTC

You can't fly with it, because fat non-whites at TSA don't read their own Director's message about blades shorter than 2 inches and they claim they have "discretion"

2018-08-30 03:55:12 UTC

I dumped a box in the garbage because they're idiots.

2018-08-30 03:55:22 UTC

same with my Tom's of Maine

2018-08-30 03:56:00 UTC

You can fly with it and just not have a blade on it right? Or has the tsa ascended autism at this point?

2018-08-30 03:56:14 UTC

correct

2018-08-30 03:56:21 UTC

but good luck finding blades when you land...

2018-08-30 04:02:12 UTC

You can check it, but I NEVER check bags at airports...I don't trust the throwers.

2018-08-30 04:03:58 UTC

I have a friend who works as a "ramp rat" at an airport, he and his wife both do it for the flights, and the pay is good. They educate their kids with the trips. He told me...."Never check bags ever" most of his coworkers are black, and union.

I was giving people straight razor shaves for over a year, then thought why not use one myself? It is a lot harder to shave yourself then someone else. Just have to start slow, one stroke at a time. I cut myself up good lol. Prol because I thought I could just do it. But there is a learning curve.

2018-08-30 14:55:27 UTC

@V.Balboa - PA Is there some kind of starter kit? I picked up a few old straight razors. Then ran into what grains to use before using the leather strap to maintain the edge. Or maybe id I buy a brand new one, I wont need those different grain stones?

2018-08-31 00:19:36 UTC

Leather strap ? .....Thats amateurs I fell for that crap when I first started but that is just for show not the professional way of doing things

@Attrition in the desert 160$ from The Art of the Shave New but shop around

2018-09-07 14:51:53 UTC

@here are there any leather workers here? I have an idea for a project

2018-09-08 00:13:33 UTC

Anyone^^^ @everyone

2018-09-08 00:27:35 UTC

Along the lines of traditional wet shaving... I highly recommend getting an open-comb safety razor if u have very thick, wiry stubble like I do... the mode I use is the muhle r41 I believe

2018-09-10 02:44:45 UTC

Back in high school I REALLY wanted to learn how to shave with a straight razor, very classy and very manly I thought. Too bad I barely had any facial hair back then lol. I used disposable razors for a couple years, then bought a couple really expensive electric razors that I still use. I kind of still want to get a straight razor and learn how to use it though, if I remember correctly there were some cheaper places to get them if you shop around. I did actually buy a mug, brush, and soap, I think I only used it once or twice though lol.

I can't find an appropriate channel so I guess I'll ask here.
Does anybody know the proper way of filing a complaint with an auto manufacturer? I had an accident over the weekend and none of the airbags deployed.

2018-09-10 03:03:57 UTC

Lawyer up I'd say. What do you drive?

2018-09-10 03:30:47 UTC

@Anti Weeb Aktion what kind of vehicle was it

2018-09-10 03:34:07 UTC

It was a Nissan Skyline. I'd prefer to avoid relying on full legal action due to my employment and the issue of currently being out of the states.

2018-09-14 15:47:35 UTC

Tfw can’t grow facial hair

2018-09-14 15:52:14 UTC

@Sherlock Don't worry. Neckbeards, numales and soyboys have mostly ruined beards. I actually look better with a beard but I shave now just to continue my way out of soyness.

2018-09-14 15:53:55 UTC

Can you get hair transplants for your face
