Procrastination is hell. And a special kind of temptation, and as cheesy as it sounds I would unironically recommend Benedictine talismans for such things.

Placebo or otherwise they are said to work.

I think that the working out vs homework thing, at least in my experience is about motivation. If I feel there's no substantial, tangible benefit to something, that it won't mean anything in the grander scheme of things, than I don't have any drive to do it.
Half the battle is convincing yourself that what you are doing matters.
