Now you'll laugh at me for this, but I believe that before all of this, before Egypt, that there was a massively superior civilization that ruled the earth.
If we look at the evidence, Plato's account of the civilization of Atlantis best fits the description of a lost people. Plato writes that his ancestor, the Greek lawmaker and orator, Solon, went down to Egypt and spoke to the priests there.
The priests recounted a history of their civilization, and of many others around of the day including Solon's native Greece.
This mythology stated that all these Mediterranean peoples were colonies of a lost civilization which was destroyed millennia before.
The priests said that 9,000 years approximately before Solon that this civilization was destroyed as a result of their hubris and arrogance towards their god. If we go back some 11,000 years, when this event would have occurred, we can see that to end the Ice Age, there was a massive impact in North America, which at the time was covered in a mile thick sheet of ice.
Such an impact would've released an unbelievable amount of heat, flooding otherwise dry locations.
