2018-07-30 00:50:21 UTC

I just turned 21 and I am planning on buying my first gun. I am not looking to spend more than $500. Any recommendations?

2018-07-30 01:03:38 UTC

If you can find a mosin for less than 150 it will teach you the basics

2018-07-30 01:04:08 UTC

I guarantee you you can find them way cheaper

2018-07-30 01:10:24 UTC

That's what i was thinking. Is the ammo easy to find in stores? I'm looking for something that would be useful in an SHTF situation.

2018-07-30 01:13:46 UTC

yes u can find mosin ammo in big box stores like acadmey

2018-07-30 01:13:53 UTC

also u can buy shit tons online even cheaper

2018-07-30 01:58:01 UTC

good luck finding one for 150

2018-07-30 02:20:49 UTC

meh gun broker u can get lucky

2018-07-30 02:21:08 UTC

u can get a factory new mosin for around 300 if u look well

2018-07-30 04:02:06 UTC

tbh i would spend an extra 100-150 and get a nice basic ar, unless they really want a milsurp bolt as first gun

2018-07-30 04:18:14 UTC

got any good 500 dollar ars?

2018-07-30 07:54:16 UTC

@Joe the boomer i have mosin that was my first rifle and i would say for the money a mauser would be better like a yugo or spanish

2018-07-30 07:55:41 UTC

yugo

2018-07-30 07:55:50 UTC

it depends the 8mm masuer is much harder tomcome by

2018-07-30 07:55:57 UTC

only online really and more expensive

2018-07-30 07:56:04 UTC

yugos are geat ive had many mausers

2018-07-30 07:56:25 UTC

i have a safe queen german kar98k in factory new conedition from 1939

2018-07-30 07:56:51 UTC

2018-07-30 07:59:40 UTC

I have one of these, it's a nice gun. And .40 caliber is pretty cool.

You can get a 1.0 police trade in in .40 for cheap these days. A new 1.0 is cheap as well. I have a 1.0 in 9mm. I like the beaver tail. idk why they took it off.

2018-07-30 17:33:09 UTC

I don't like the 1.0, but to each his own

2018-07-30 17:34:19 UTC

The triggers were shitty on some of the earlier ones from what I hear. Mine was manufactured in 2016 so I think it has a similar trigger as the one that went into the 2.0.

2018-07-30 17:35:24 UTC

I've put about 1000 rounds through it so far. Seems to work fine. Even with the 30 round mag

2018-07-30 18:12:00 UTC

I got my mosin with a bunch of accessories and ammunition pouches for 150$ but I bought it in person

2018-07-30 21:27:22 UTC

@Shepherd all of a bolt-action is what you're going for then in my opinion you can get a Winchester model 70 cheaper and objectively it is a better gun than the Mosin shoots a better minute of angle more accurate

2018-07-31 00:02:22 UTC

i hate the slide release on the m&p

2018-07-31 00:42:27 UTC

doesnt look to bad really at all

2018-07-31 00:50:20 UTC

i went with a sp2022

2018-07-31 01:05:35 UTC

isn't .40 a meme caliber

2018-07-31 01:06:07 UTC

the only real selling point on it right now is the price

2018-07-31 01:06:16 UTC

and availability

2018-07-31 01:06:33 UTC

after a few years it will become very impractical
