I don't think the fascist could come in power without conservatives, i think fascism is something that arises when conservatism fails, but the two will naturally work together (hence the way the alt-right is tied to the republicans in one way or another). People turn to fascism when democracy stops working, but the left always seems to struggle in gaining support in any society, even today the democrats consistently reject the Bernie Sanders wing of the party, and the more they pander to SJWs and Cultural Marxists, the more of the white vote they loose, and the more they make fascism seem appealing. It's funny though, that a lot of the things used to describe fascism in this book can easily be applied to the left; such as the hatred of the freedom of speech, hating debate with opponents, opposition to letting anyone have an opinion. Perhaps everyone is looking towards fascism in some form or another.

One thing that does only seem to apply to the right that the book mentioned, is the lack if interest in spreading their ideas globally. Modern leftists seem to want everyone in the world to do things the way they do. the right wing is the opposite, we generally want to to things our way and dont really care how others run their country. The left seems to always be pushing a certain point of view, and the right is a reaction to that, and people turn to the right when they are fed up with things going a certain way. I think the lesson to learn here is that the best form of propaganda is the constant reminder of how far society has fallen from where it used to be. Focusing on self-improvement and maintaining a good image of ourselves is very important for that, as proof that we are for what made the west great, and they are the opposite to that.

I also don't beleive the fascists could come to power with allies. The normal citizen will see them as too strict/too 'out there'. But once their leaders start aligning themselves with fascists, then they will be more accepting.

I do see that distinction @Orchid . The left wants to spread their ways across the globe, but that is what marxists tend to strive towards.

Fascism is much more tailored to each country that it rises in, and that is why Fasicsm doesn't have a central doctrine, but simply similarities between each of the different individual movements.

Fascists' doctrine seems to be focused on eliminating enemies and degeneracy, and fascism seems to rise when other more complex ideologies get in the way of that.

@rilath I also believe that fascism is inevitable, hopefully if it does come to pass, it will use authority to fix the problems with society and its people, then through generations the idea of the hard-working, nationalisitc citizen will be imbedded in the youth and the iron first of fascist authority will no longer be needed.

I hope that day comes soon.

Seems fascism is almost a natural resposne in that sense, when society is degeneratiing into an unnatural state, fascism rises up to set the world back to its proper order. To remind us all that we are not god, we are not perfect simply because we exist, but that we have to strive for perfection through sweat and blood, if need be.

It's hard to say nowadays. The interpretations of fascism vary extremely.

Well, there are people who only see themselves as fascists in a social sense, then there are people who view it as an economic system or even a spiritual one.

Well, if you define fascism as the notion that "people who work together are stronger", then I would see myself as a fascist aswell, at least in a societal context.

@P14 That is am interesting way of looking at it. I call myself a fascist, definitely a societal one, probably even a spiritual fascist, but the economic portion is still something I am trying to figure out. Could you elaborate on what principles a sipiritual fascist would hold?

I wouldn't want to do that, because I'm not a spiritual fascist myself. I think it would be something along the lines of following the natural law (whatever this is). Don't quote me on this one though.
