What is everyone's stance on smoking?
like anything else bad for you, realize that its bad for you and dont make excuses in regards to the outcome
fight the urge to swallow every flat earth style conspiracy that gets puked onto pol, breathing smoke is bad for you, cigarettes shorten your lifespan
i dipped for years, took up cigarettes after that, quit in my late 20s, my teeth are garbage from dipping, and if i end up with lung cancer down the road, then hey, its not exactly a mystery as to why
No excuses, I know the consequences. Weighing it out though, could we not make an argument for it (I only smoke cigars once every week or two). Now I agree in excess anything is bad and should be avoided, but in moderation I would argue that it can help. Sure the health risks are there but the relaxation I get and the social bonding I have with others over a couple of cigars is worth more than the ill risks.
Of course, we can get that bonding and relaxation elsewhere but most activites have their drawbacks. And we can't always be doing what is best for us, since we aren't perferct (but we should constantly strive to better ourselves)
anything is fine in moderation
if you're smoking a couple of cigars at the elks lodge once a month you're not doing any harm that will build up
imo the worst thing you can do to yourself is make choices based on what you think other people will think, thats mental damage that builds up and becomes the worst habit
I've always liked the anything in moderation saying, but there are some things that shouldn't be done at all -Meth cocaine other hard drugs-
the caveat here is less about a particular substance or activity, and more about how hard a thing is to do in moderation

the question comes down to banning things and banning behaviors, and im not in favor of either
ive met dudes that could go hard for a week straight on shore leave, then shake that shit off and ship back for 60d on a rig, ive also met guys that were literally ruining their lives with video games

Thats why most people dont oppose it, they believe they are doing good when we know they are worsening our society
Theyve muddied the waters so that at the surface level they see 'progress' and 'equality' but deeper down there is just degeneracy and the degradation of society. Most people are just idiots who help the fall of western civilization and dont even realize they are doing it
Now i would say most politicans are stupid people who see the 'progress' like most people but some of (((them))) know what they are doing
