anglican != lutheran

2018-08-31 19:26:07 UTC

anglican church was founded solely because the king wanted a divorce

2018-08-31 19:27:04 UTC

He was not a sincere or serious priest, he broke his solemnly taken vows

2018-08-31 19:27:43 UTC

His entire theology is just post hoc rationalisation of the sins he committed

2018-08-31 19:28:42 UTC

He had 99 minimum stated heretical views, the papacy has no reason to take the ravings of a priest who's broken his vows as legitimate

2018-08-31 19:30:01 UTC

who would win:
centuries old doctrine supported by the government of the nation vs. 1 shitpost

2018-08-31 19:30:04 UTC

2018-08-31 19:32:58 UTC

Also i dont think you want to go down the path of "this person's actions delegitamizes the Church and doctrine" if you're gadolig lmao

2018-08-31 19:33:19 UTC

no where on the wiki does it say he fucked her b4 marriage

2018-08-31 19:34:37 UTC

Also, he didnt "break his vows" because they excommunicated him. All the stuff you are citing came after the fact

2018-08-31 19:36:03 UTC

So yes, they should have listened to a priest, that hadnt broken his vows or done anything wrong at that point, that was telling them to stop going against whats clearly stated by Christ Himself, as well as the Catholic church

2018-08-31 19:37:15 UTC

Ur just salty not because you know what happened and disagree with it, but because "grrr im SUPPOSED to be!"

2018-08-31 19:39:14 UTC

Are you talking about indulgences?

2018-08-31 19:39:33 UTC

No. That's not why he was excommunicated

2018-08-31 19:39:42 UTC

The main issue was over communion

2018-08-31 19:41:27 UTC

That he didn't believe in transubstantiation?

2018-08-31 19:47:08 UTC

He did

2018-08-31 19:47:22 UTC

The priest he got into a with feud didn't

2018-08-31 19:47:51 UTC

Every Anglican I know here doesn't tho? So how did Protestants end up not believing?

2018-08-31 19:48:21 UTC

So you're saying he was excommunicated for holding the church's position on transubstantiation?

2018-08-31 19:48:38 UTC

Or at least what I understand the church's position to be

2018-08-31 19:50:20 UTC

I apologise for being in error on the chronology of Luther's marriage btw, my mistake

2018-08-31 19:50:59 UTC

Though I still wouldn't consider an oath taken before God for life to be rescinded by excommunication personally

2018-08-31 19:51:24 UTC

Well Anglicanism is a completely different thing to Lutheranism

2018-08-31 19:51:30 UTC

It's its own thing

2018-08-31 19:51:45 UTC

What's the major difference?

2018-08-31 19:51:53 UTC

And yeah, that's why he as excommunicated

2018-08-31 19:52:40 UTC

Well Lutheranism began after Luther was kicked out of the Catholic Church. And I believe Anglicanism started when the King of England wanted to divorce his wife, but couldn't do to doctrine

2018-08-31 19:52:50 UTC

So he just fractured off and made his own church

2018-08-31 19:53:04 UTC

I totally agree Anglicanism is a farse

2018-08-31 19:54:11 UTC

Through Anglicanism the rest of the protestant sects branched off, but Lutheranism has always just been its own thing

2018-08-31 19:55:31 UTC

Like we have Latin mass, believe in transubstantiation, dont allow women in clergy, our pastors have to study The Bible as well as Catholic scholars in seminary school for 6 years

2018-08-31 19:55:46 UTC

Lutherans get a bad rep when grouped in with prots tbh

2018-08-31 19:56:15 UTC

Well I apologise for any misconceptions I may have had, I still find the theological positions of Luther (as I understand them) to be wrong, but any confusion I have probably arises from Anglicans in Ireland being referred to as "prods"

2018-08-31 19:56:30 UTC

Well really any Christian non Catholic is described as Protestant here

2018-08-31 19:56:46 UTC

It's an ethnic and cultural distinction as much as anything else

2018-08-31 19:56:50 UTC

It's fine lol, no hard feelings. Honestly, i feel that a lot of resentment between sects just comes from misconceptions

2018-08-31 19:57:30 UTC

Like i have no problem with Catholics, and whenever someone says something dumb about "worshipping Mary" or "praying to saints" I correct them

2018-08-31 19:58:24 UTC

I do still have major issues with Sola Fides but I'll leave that for another time, thanks for letting me know that about Lutheran's, only ones I've ever met are Germans who were lapsed

2018-08-31 19:58:38 UTC

No problem man
