hey fellas, i've been thinking on this for a little while but should I try to put my foot in the door for politics?
i'm currently a student studying engineering and i'm also applying for the military to become an electronic/mechatronic engineer, should i just focus on that first?
of course do that before politics IMO
a word to any of you boys wanting to get involved in politics: JOIN COLLEGE REPUBLICANS. thee best thing you can do for yourself. not because you learn a lot, but because you make infinite connections. i didnβt and i hit the ground limping when i got involved with my state party
i always see people on this server talking about getting involved with local politics. do it, but itβs going to be not what you expect at all. not necessarily in a bad way, just a different kind of politicing
it would be different for me since i'm in Australia, but i'll see what's there
@Abel focus on having a respectable military career but get your foot in the door of a party in a college group, make sure you're cleanly presented and speak clearly and sensibly and try to take on responsibility and you will quickly be recognised by more important people
Make sure to keep up contact too while you're with the military
Thanks for the tips @bress222 & @NormanLord
I should be fine on the first two fronts, I always try to take care of my image by going to the gym, being cleanly shaved and dressing appropriately. Although I should try to get more formal clothes since I mostly wear casual formal out in public
And at the place I work I get compliments from customers weekly that I have a good voice and very polite
I still think I need to practice in debating though, I can handle banter well and stay relaxed but tense up a little when Iβm in a debate
And then there is the matter of what party to choose
In Australia the two main parties are the Liberal and Labour parties
Although in recent years they have pretty much combined their parties to others so they gain more votes
