Then a couple feet away we had a tree stand as a “Lookout” and around the perimeter we had walls and other traps. Miss those days

I don't have a pic, but started making a shed like thing in the woods near my house, wasn't much but it was something. I think I'll go out today and see if it's still in good condition. I'll post a pic.

Anyone here use a ferro rod for fire starting?

2017-12-11 00:18:02 UTC

I have, though I'm trying to move towards perfecting bow-drill and other natural fire starting techniques

2017-12-11 00:19:55 UTC

as long as you have a knife with a 90 degree spine (carbon tends to work better than stainless, but anything hard will work), it's pretty foolproof.

2017-12-11 00:22:29 UTC

Bowdrill is definitely a good skill to learn I need to put more time into it seeing as how if you had nothing but maybe a knife you could make the stuff to get a fire started. I've only used a ferro rod a few times and it seems way better than my traditional flint and steel
