@missliterallywho Completely agree. It's funny you and I have been lockstep in our view towards social policy for probably the entire time we've know one another - the only difference is in how we express these ideas.

That video looks a bit like a lot of IE...

2018-08-29 03:24:59 UTC

I think pre-war europe was perhaps a bit *too* rigid. A moderate level of class mobility is probably ideal.

2018-08-29 03:25:22 UTC

*far* less than we have now, though.

2018-08-29 03:25:38 UTC

Just a reminder that modern combat is at least 90% cardio and very little actual strength

2018-08-29 03:25:44 UTC

Class mobility is important because it discourages the "othering" of other classes

2018-08-29 03:26:02 UTC

And keeps peasant revolts down

2018-08-29 03:26:09 UTC

Who needs Kulaks?

2018-08-29 03:26:46 UTC

If we could get rich whites to care about poor whites, the fight is just about over

2018-08-29 03:27:13 UTC

The opiod addictions, the dying of preventable and treatable diseases, etc

2018-08-29 03:27:34 UTC

The homelessness of entire families because of one layoff or illness

2018-08-29 03:27:42 UTC

@Deleted User I've been watching a lot of Downton Abbey, which begins just before WWII and goes through the 20s+, and it's fascinating and frustrating to see what changed for better and worse. I wouldn't bring back all of it (especially old approaches to pregnancy & birth), and clearly Brits are very different in character compared to us, but a lot of the old ways we never should have ditched.

2018-08-29 03:29:09 UTC

I've seen a few episodes.

2018-08-29 03:29:40 UTC

Some guy was on TDS saying he blames rich whites more than he blames Jews for our current situation. Can't say I completely disagree.

2018-08-29 03:29:42 UTC

I've made promos for PBS for Downton Abbey, never actually watched the show though.

2018-08-29 03:30:00 UTC

I'm in season 4, no spoilers plz

2018-08-29 03:30:01 UTC

@missliterallywho What class of people are the main characters in that show?

2018-08-29 03:30:12 UTC

All of them, really

2018-08-29 03:30:41 UTC

It's a large cast and details the lives of all the people in the house

2018-08-29 03:31:00 UTC

@John O - It's about an Earl's family and his servants, so all classes show up

2018-08-29 03:31:17 UTC

Who do you self insert as?

2018-08-29 03:31:43 UTC

*don't say the flapper don't say the flapper*

2018-08-29 03:31:53 UTC

The flapper.

2018-08-29 03:31:57 UTC

lol

2018-08-29 03:32:01 UTC

nice

2018-08-29 03:32:10 UTC

I can empathize with a variety of characters. My mom thinks I'm a lot like Mary, the "cold" one lol

2018-08-29 03:32:12 UTC

Oh, you were talking to Mrs. Logan, my bad....

2018-08-29 03:32:44 UTC

Oh, so the upper class

2018-08-29 03:33:17 UTC

Is there a sassy maid? I want to be *her*

2018-08-29 03:33:24 UTC

no reason..

2018-08-29 03:33:39 UTC

We don't have a comparable class system by any means, realistically I'd be between the aristocrats and the servants

2018-08-29 03:33:50 UTC

i saw a scene with some dude racing a car...I wanna be him.

2018-08-29 03:33:54 UTC

*Oi! Getcha own damn tea*

2018-08-29 03:34:01 UTC

@Flint The sassy maids always get fired

2018-08-29 03:34:45 UTC

You mean freed from my bourgeoi masters to go have my own series?

2018-08-29 03:35:13 UTC

The burgeoning middle class shows up here and there but none of the main characters are in it

2018-08-29 03:35:18 UTC

*Oi, you got a license for that!* the series

2018-08-29 03:36:15 UTC

Lol one sassy maid ended up with a bastard child and worked as a prostitute. Bad behavior used to have real consequences

2018-08-29 03:36:39 UTC

So, it'll be an HBO show?
