Because they had the influx of mass immigration or the possibility to move abroad and do shady business there
wow it's almost like paying your workers less and not following regulations which would protect and benefit the worker is more profitable
who would have thunk
And more importantly the consumers clearly don't give a shit so
If it's not financially justified then you can't give your workers everything they want yeah
@MountainMan can you believe that a chinese sweatshop worker is more profitable to hire than some unionised nord?
i for one am shocked
Again I think the most important thing is changing the attitude that the consumers have
As long as they're still supporting inferior products then nothing is going to stop
ok so if it depends on the customers holding the employer over a barrel, why even entertain the notion that "hurr the factory will bleed workers"
Convince people to stop supporting shady business practices
also the customer and the employees interests are opposed inherently
because the customer wants cheaper product
anyway g2g
Because if the consumer base weren't inmoral and the factory owner couldn't just replace his talented workers with wage slaves. As long as there is demand for inferior products the company will try to cut corners and It'll be sustainable.
The end product still suffers
If they replace their work force with low wage mass immigrants or do it abroad.
They won't be making decent products because they are bleeding talented workers.
My intention is to take care of the locals as much as possible, in a good society the small government and the service providers (The corporations) would reflect that. The globalists of our time which are content to bring in mass immigrants are the enemy of the locals.
The idiots that keep buying these are supporting this destructive process.
@GeorgyBoyo problem is you can't buy alternatives here because anything is either from china or costs 100 times as much because it's not produced in a country that allows for the poisoning of the environment and the people like chin does
Then you use tariffs
Yes
^
Tariffs are anti business and anti consumer though <:pepe_smile:378719407977005068>
Would Mises approve?
<:pepe_eyes:378719408362881024>
It do be coersion
No tariffs then. Convince the people to stop supporting shitty practices or get fucked?
But at the same time they're foreigners and they don't have the same privileges as the citizens 🤔
They're not really tariffs they're a counter to a Chinese chess move that was thought to be completely theoretical back in the
1940s
Classically, tariffs are a tax used by the country in order to bring in income, or to create a protectionist policy.
Under free trade theory, it's assumed that no country would WANT to put tariffs of things, but there's a slight chance that a country could take advantage of this by dumping goods and undercutting the local prices of other nations
China made a move, and for a while no one called their bluff
US tariffs on China are not protectionist, because it's not protecting US businesses per se.
It's actually encouraging businesses to move to other SE Asian countries like Taiwan or Malaysia
`there's a slight chance that a country could take advantage of this by dumping goods and undercutting the local prices of other nations`
like, what motivated the US to originally tariff european manufactured goods, steel, etc.
Tactical negotiations
```In the aftermath of the American Revolution, the weak Congress of the Confederation had been unable to impose a tariff or reach reciprocal trade agreements with most European powers, creating a situation in which the country was unable to prevent a flood of European goods which were damaging domestic manufacturers even while Britain and other countries placed high duties on U.S. goods```
huehuehue
Oh, at that period
