After Sandy, there were volunteer opportunities in NJ for years. Lots of opportunities for us to help our people

White AmeriCorps members who are deployed to disasters are prime candidates. Believe me, you get sick of the corps member diversity quota.

If you volunteer in a disaster zone as explicitly IE, beware ICNA (islamic circle of north america) and NECHAMA (jewish disaster response). They are well funded and active and, well, likely to be rustled.

@Virgil Well, most of us don't have 4-7 months. I am planning a true thru-hike in the next few years (unless I get married). My idea for identity expeditions would be 3-day to 2-week things, that could be available to many people.
