I will say, seeing the likes of the younger guys in IE being so woke gives me some measure of hope for the future.

2018-09-14 00:14:58 UTC

Man saying shekels as casually as he did means he’s woke af I think

2018-09-14 00:15:39 UTC

That's for the office of int students

2018-09-14 00:15:44 UTC

I thought that was for the bagel shop

2018-09-14 00:16:27 UTC

@Jacob Why did they underline that one? I guess they don't want the food employees telling the intl kids "you all have to go back" as you hand them their food?

2018-09-14 00:16:34 UTC

lmao

2018-09-14 00:16:58 UTC

It's either something based, or they just don't want "well meaning" students giving the foreign kids shitty advice

Office of international students would have to take you if you claimed to be a gay Jew.

@Jacob It might be false causation, it's not working during college that makes your gpa higher, it's having a work ethic and feeling personally invested in your education

@TylerHess I think you're right. When I investigated this at my alma mater, it seemed that getting a double major didn't decrease your odds of having a job- neither did being involved with clubs, etc.

2018-09-14 00:26:12 UTC

Some students would just do all that stuff. Conscientiousness.

2018-09-14 00:27:17 UTC

But here's a weird one: double majors didn't consider themselves harder working on average. They were just smarter, per their SAT scores.

2018-09-14 00:27:45 UTC

How you homies doing?

2018-09-14 00:27:55 UTC

Honestly, if you're good at stuff, just load your schedule. More ammo for the resume gun.

2018-09-14 00:28:27 UTC

Hello everyone

2018-09-14 00:28:50 UTC

Not sure if I am allowed out of pledge hall but I am here

2018-09-14 00:28:58 UTC

Don't know how

2018-09-14 00:29:12 UTC

@TylerHess That is absolutely a very good point. It's doubtful that people with a shitty work ethic will even think about getting a job while in college.

2018-09-14 00:29:30 UTC

That being said, it could very well be true that having a job while in college teaches you responsibility

2018-09-14 00:30:26 UTC

From what I saw in undergrad, people either have or don't have a work ethic when they enter college, and rarely discover one once there.

2018-09-14 00:31:15 UTC

@Trashboat hello broseidon

2018-09-14 00:31:29 UTC

What's up brorak brobama

2018-09-14 00:31:32 UTC

Also, I'm the kind of person who likes having a job. It makes me feel like I'm doing something useful. With school I don't really get that feeling, so it could kinda boost my moral.

2018-09-14 00:31:52 UTC

Like, logically I know that I'm doing something productive in school, but it doesn't *feel* like it since the benefits are so delayed

2018-09-14 00:32:07 UTC

Smart rich kids and affirmative action students will almost always get outdone by white working and middle class students

2018-09-14 00:33:43 UTC

yeah that can be hard, it helped me to look at it as a place of duty

2018-09-14 00:38:15 UTC

Welcome to general @Trashboat πŸ‘‹πŸ»

2018-09-14 00:38:39 UTC

Rich kids were less likely to do STEM. I didn't get the chance to figure out why. I thought it was weird, though.
