Blue eyes became rarer for two reasons. Firstly, the % of the population that is white fell. Secondly, over time whites of different ethnicities mixed and brown eyes are dominant

I'm mostly Scottish with blonde hair, blue eyes (ginger beard though). I'll chalk that up to my little bit of Norwegian and/or Swedish I guess.
