@LOGiK It was a decent idea to try and challenge the royal navy with a small modern fleet close to home to make it vulnerable abroad, but it got started way too late to build up in time.

it was a bad idea to throw huge manufacturing time and metal resources into giant battleships, if hitler had just made uboats germany probably would have won the naval war

2019-08-02 00:01:39 UTC

@LOGiK Once convoys got ironed out they were vastly less effective and would have needed even more numbers to remain effective, and towards 1944 and 1945 plane-mounted radar and searchlights meant subs were suffering ever-greater mortality. So yeah, subs were a great investment early on but needed more and more investment to stay competitive later on against attrition. Honestly I think they should have invested a bit more in light surface ships like destroyers and E-boats to avoid facing the Royal Navy in open combat and maybe naval special forces like the Italians, but once they got bottled up in their ports they were basically doomed no matter what.

the amount of resources wasted on big, inefficient battleships was huge though

2019-08-02 01:33:44 UTC

Yeah, that aspect was just a waste since it was started too late

2019-08-02 01:34:00 UTC

They also never had enough smaller ships to adequately protect those larger ships they did finish

Bismark and Scharnhorst would have lived a lot longer with a better screen

I'm sorry I dont know anything about guns or bullets. Whats the problem here?

2019-08-02 18:22:55 UTC

nothing

2019-08-02 18:23:01 UTC

with the picture at least

2019-08-02 18:29:20 UTC

but to explain it, if gas pressure is "too high" for w/e reason, the brass hits the deflector hard and is being recoiled forward

2019-08-02 18:29:41 UTC

and the picture was taken in the right moment when it was perfectly in line with the barrel

2019-08-02 18:30:37 UTC

@MountainMan usually when you fire a gun, the rounded tip comes out and the brass is left behind

2019-08-02 18:30:58 UTC

Here, the entire case came with it

2019-08-02 18:31:36 UTC

2019-08-02 18:34:06 UTC

2019-08-02 18:55:01 UTC
