John Maclean's "Thirtymile Fire." Basically 2001, north cascades, four firefighters (two white teen girls a white teen boy and a mullato man) died from a huge FUBAR confluence of catastrophes, but notably the incompetence of the black diversity hire incident commander.
You have to read between the lines, and the two above pages are separated, but the narrative easily spells out Ellreese Daniels was upjumped in rank, despite poor previous performance (and some known creepery on women). Years and several investigations later he was found to have been legally negligent. Firefighters wanted to back him up but, whoops, he's a pothead and drunk.
Anyways, interesting red pill from my class readings.
Really a sad story. The victims all seemed like wonderful people.
