The way I've framed it in the past is the "I think having mixed race children can be cruel and unfair to the child, this is rapidly becoming a mixed up tribalized world as it is, and mixed race kids tend to struggle with issues of identity - stuck between two worlds - no tribe of their own, so to speak. They frequently struggle with depression, and deeper issues of connection to meaning, identity and oftentimes hold resentment towards one or more parent. Obviously love is a powerful thing, and I wouldn't want to stand in the way of it, but you have to consider the potential consequences of that relationship"

I have a buddy as well who's 10000% set on specifically a Korean woman, some apps on his phone are even in Korean, he's basically said he's given up in white women because "they're all thots and American women are ridiculous"

2018-10-15 00:56:10 UTC

@Jacob Only autists are convinced by "studies"

2018-10-15 00:56:12 UTC

Is he an engineering student?

2018-10-15 00:56:32 UTC

@Patrick No. Liberal Arts

2018-10-15 00:57:04 UTC

Is it a good liberal art like philosophy/history?

2018-10-15 00:57:24 UTC

I've brought up the fact the6 might have identity issues being half white half Korean but the response is always "not if they're raised American" or "Ya know there's this thing called mental strength and not everyone is the same way"

2018-10-15 00:57:32 UTC

Modern Languages. Don't ask me what he's thinking.

2018-10-15 00:57:35 UTC

if it was me? I'd ask the person what they think the cultural issues between them will be

2018-10-15 00:57:52 UTC

@Deleted User I think that's partially true, but, if one side has studies, and the other doesn't, then the public will quickly see the side that doesn't as anti-intellectual. That's part of the reason everyone thinks conservatives are retarded. They suck at debating and usually just spout platitudes. For all that they make fun of liberals for being emotional, they sure do it a lot themselves.

2018-10-15 00:58:20 UTC

It's not necessarily the study that will convince someone, but it's the fact that you have studies and the other side doesn't that establishes you as an authority

2018-10-15 00:58:55 UTC

@Jacob Feelings are infinitely more powerful than facts - it's why the left has won for so long.

2018-10-15 00:59:07 UTC

That doesn't contradict what I said, though

2018-10-15 00:59:08 UTC

for that matter: ask your friend how you "raise someone American" 'cause that Chinatown crap doesn't fly for me

2018-10-15 00:59:35 UTC

We won't win until we master the art of appealing to emotion.

2018-10-15 00:59:38 UTC

Feelings don't care about your facts.

2018-10-15 00:59:52 UTC

I don't disagree with that, but you're missing the point

2018-10-15 01:00:23 UTC

She literally lives in South Korea too. Maybe I should just convince him that it likely won't work out.

2018-10-15 01:00:39 UTC

No one is saying that you should argue with *only* facts

2018-10-15 01:01:03 UTC

does the guy _know_ Korean or anything about Koreans?

2018-10-15 01:01:14 UTC

It's not so much having facts that gets people on your side, and it's the fact that you're not the guy who doesn't have facts

2018-10-15 01:01:29 UTC

or is he just stroking it to the idea of not giving a white woman animony?

2018-10-15 01:01:39 UTC

@Salo Saloson He's in the Korean club.

2018-10-15 01:01:55 UTC

He's a bit of a weeb.

2018-10-15 01:02:09 UTC

that level of xenophilia is creepy

2018-10-15 01:02:14 UTC

full offense intended

2018-10-15 01:02:50 UTC

I know right? He's still a cool guy though. He's not one of those white misfit weebs.

2018-10-15 01:03:25 UTC

@Hakujin - CA Is your friend overweight and depressed? I am asking because in my experience most of my friends who ended up marrying non whites were kind of ..."unattractive, overweight, with low self esteem" who felt that they would never be able to date a white girl (or guy) and so they start chatting with someone in the Phillipines or Egypt and they "fall in love" over the internet and then eventually they fly the person to the US.

2018-10-15 01:05:22 UTC
2018-10-15 01:05:48 UTC

hmm bummer

2018-10-15 01:07:10 UTC

My kid in my case isn't an outcast or anything either, tall fit kid, normal all around but just has a constant hard on for Korea, everytime we talk about anything cultural he always has to say "Well in Korea..."

2018-10-15 01:08:40 UTC

Just realized.. with this NPC meme.

The left says it’s dehumanizing, but haven’t they been calling us russian bots for the past two years?

2018-10-15 01:08:54 UTC

@fgtveassassin He's not that Xenophilic. He does have an interest in Japan and Korea though.

2018-10-15 01:10:12 UTC

white people with low self esteem often give up on white people because they know that someone from - say the Philippines - will make them feel special even though all they want is to move to the US and think all Americans are rich and will spoil them. Sad how some of them get manipulated. once they bring the other person over to the US, the marriage usually falls apart but by then they might have a Visa through their marriage

2018-10-15 01:11:00 UTC

He's only 18. I'm sure I can talk him out of doing such a thing.

2018-10-15 01:11:22 UTC

Or so I hope.

2018-10-15 01:11:56 UTC

Yeah there's no changing this kid's mind at all, he wants to be an F1 driver (no fault for having big aspirations by the way) and he's going to marry a K-pop idol

2018-10-15 01:12:03 UTC

I mean, I'd tell him that Korea is a pretty different place than he imagines

2018-10-15 01:12:14 UTC

... I'll say this much: his aspirations are male as fuck

2018-10-15 01:12:45 UTC

@Deleted User Look, I agree that we should find ways to explain our positions that appeal to emotion, but if we just outright ignore research we're going to end up looking like retards. People will inevitably ask for sources for our claims, and we'll be laughed off if we just respond with platitudes.

We're going to sound like those Trump fanboys who always talk about Kate Steinle or whatever and then just stutter and trip over their words when someone brings up the statistic that immigrants commit less crime.

beats the shit outta me wanting to win a Pulitzer and a Nobel Prize in Literature
