2018-03-28 06:32:55 UTC

figured

2018-03-28 06:33:54 UTC

I come from an area of west virginia that originates the term redneck

2018-03-28 06:34:10 UTC

there was a coal miners rebellion, that was their uniform, red bandanas around their necks.

2018-03-28 06:34:22 UTC

Thus the term that haunts Appalachia was born

2018-03-28 06:35:00 UTC

i always thought it had to do with getting sunburned or something

2018-03-28 06:35:07 UTC

nope

2018-03-28 06:36:24 UTC

Where are our militant conservatives beating up neo-nazis?

2018-03-28 06:36:58 UTC

neo-nazis are irrelevant

2018-03-28 06:37:17 UTC

From Wikipedia: Coal miners
The term "redneck" in the early 20th century was occasionally used in reference to American coal miner union members who wore red bandannas for solidarity. The sense of "a union man" dates at least to the 1910s and was especially popular during the 1920s and 1930s in the coal-producing regions of West Virginia, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania.[14] It was also used by union strikers to describe poor white strikebreakers.[15]

Here's an article about the miners rebellion https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Blair_Mountain

Speaking of communism

2018-03-28 06:39:14 UTC

I don't think throwing the baby out with the bathwater on collectivism is a good idea, people should help one another to a point.

2018-03-28 06:39:55 UTC

that "Doing Better Most Days" video you have is something else, lol

2018-03-28 06:40:04 UTC

A major problem in West Virginia are the 1st and 3rd disability checks people get, rather than just helping people who need it, it's people who could be working using it as a primary source of income.

2018-03-28 06:40:30 UTC

And rather than saving money or using it to better their lives, a lot of people spend it all the first week and then struggle the rest of the month.

2018-03-28 06:40:33 UTC

collectivism =/= people helping one another out though

2018-03-28 06:41:13 UTC

I played a online game with someone from Isreal, when I told him I was from West Virginia, he said "I heard that place was a shithole." I replied, "I've heard the same thing about where you're from too pal."

2018-03-28 06:41:48 UTC

It's fun talking to people around the world who have different experiences than I do.

2018-03-28 06:41:58 UTC

That sacramento city hall livestream was an example of collectivism.

2018-03-28 06:42:19 UTC

I'm not familiar with the video, could you sum it up?

2018-03-28 06:42:39 UTC

ni**ers

2018-03-28 06:42:51 UTC

I'm thinking collectivism as an idea, like communism is supposed to be, that all for one, one for all kind of idea.

2018-03-28 06:43:07 UTC

Protesting en masse, and chanting slogans with no substance

2018-03-28 06:43:13 UTC

Each according to his ability, each according to his need.

2018-03-28 06:43:24 UTC

So just like the gun control kids?

2018-03-28 06:43:26 UTC

They're catchphrases

2018-03-28 06:43:38 UTC

Does the gun control lead boy know he goofed putting his fist up?

2018-03-28 06:43:41 UTC

The people parotting them have no understanding

2018-03-28 06:43:55 UTC

I'd like to hope his mom and dad or whatever handlers he has feeding him lines yelled at him over doing thast.

2018-03-28 06:43:59 UTC

That image will haunt him forever.

2018-03-28 06:44:08 UTC

It will certainly not go away from the internet.
