actually, that reminds of a line in this article, which is actually quite good
https://jacobitemag.com/2018/10/02/empty-realm/
My one and only favorite quality of his is the ability to not stutter during speech
and thats about it
Jacobite is sort of NRx lite, but they put out thoughtful articles
I wasn't even aware until recently that people could exist without an inner monologue.
Chad's inner monologue is actually a direct line of communication with god himself, few know this
I'm skeptical of the idea that the majority of people don't have that ability
I would guess there are certain things that make you do it more or less
Same I think there are people that don’t use it often but I can’t fathom not having one
like, for example, I read all the time as a kid. Maybe that develops it
these days I read less and notice myself doing it less
although take that theory with a big grain of salt
Last year I considered working out and trying out for the local police force up here in southern-Minneapolis, but I actually met the officers are they're about as neo-liberal as you can get.
welp, just outed myself as an NPC
become who you are, guys
I hate to point this out, but... the study doesn't say most people lack an internal monologue
the study said that you don't _always_ have an internal monologue going on
same with all the other criteria
oh yeah good point
in an ironic twist, the NPC meme has evolved from being a bunch of up-their-own-ass e-neets trying to make themselves look cool not understanding a study
to being an organized attack on contemporary social programming
and that's why the left can never combat memes, rofl
They're mutations like which can never be predicted
"During the event, the senior citizens got excited about voting and they danced near the bus as “Say It Loud — I’m Black and Proud” by James Brown blasted through the speakers, Evans said."
Switch one word, blah blah, same old drill. It's almost boring to say it anymore, but stuff like this is real. Perfectly okay. Nobody has a problem. But if we do the same, we're obviously hate filled terrorists. What the hell, man.
article link?
@johnnyc if you're genuinely into sieges, AJ and I have had some great Conversations about siege tactics and their uses in warfare both militarily and culturally. You're more than welcome to jump in on a chat about it some time when it comes up. I'm pretty knowledgeable on siege tactics specifically pertaining to the ancient world
It's all so tiresome. Pointing out the double standards is still useful for winning over conservatives though.
So apparently YouTube is down.
@Kingfish yeah bro i actually did a pretty big research paper on this a couple years ago. would be down to discuss sometime
"YouTube is down"
*it's happening*
omg

Yeah, weird. I was just about to ask on here.
I haven’t read Kerns book but I have read Ancient Siege Warfare: Persians, Greeks, Carthaginians and Romans 546–146 BC. And it's really good for understanding the evolution of siege tactics and how it went from hoarding yourself in a fort to a tactical series of defensive positioning which actually required a lot of logistical planning @johnnyc
Time to hop over to audible and spend some of those un-spent credits
