I enjoy them from time to time. Anyone here contribute to I.D.?

The witchcraft fascination is so strange

2018-10-19 18:29:50 UTC

Not really, if you reject patriarchy (Christianity/ western culture) witchcraft is the logical fallback. All about woman power...

2018-10-19 18:30:04 UTC

It's part of a broader out of place fascination with all things European like beer, beards, bespoke art, etc etc

2018-10-19 18:30:40 UTC

Woman priestesses and druids existed within patriarchal European societies for millennia

2018-10-19 18:31:57 UTC

Dr. Matthew Raphael Johnson has a good take: That "witchcraft" was always ungodly feminism, and matriarchal manipulation of civilized men. Hence why matriarchal societies (Africans and African diaspora, as well as our friends the merchants) are both heavily matriarchal as well as prone to occultism and dysfunction.

Not arguing any of that, only that the modern brand centers around the power of the female. I work with a couple of Wiccan(sp?). It seems very woman centric.

2018-10-19 18:32:25 UTC

Are you suggesting pre Christian Europe was that way @Wood-Ape - OK/MN

2018-10-19 18:32:34 UTC

Wicca is made up and stupid

2018-10-19 18:32:39 UTC

Not arguing that bruv

2018-10-19 18:33:01 UTC

a lot of wicca came from the Jewish kabbalah

2018-10-19 18:33:19 UTC

particularly the symbolism

2018-10-19 18:33:20 UTC

Makes sense.

2018-10-19 18:33:30 UTC

@Ald No. Pre Christian Europe was patriarchal even if not Christian.

2018-10-19 18:34:05 UTC

That is why (non-pozzed) Asatru is okay, but Wicca is cancer.

2018-10-19 18:34:23 UTC

the "star of david" was central to the temple of solomon when he was experimenting with other religions

2018-10-19 18:34:23 UTC

I would just say the female role in pagan spirituality needs to exist in that Indo European patriarchal tradition or it becomes made up and self aggrandizing like wicca

2018-10-19 18:34:35 UTC

there is nothing Godly about the star of david

2018-10-19 18:34:51 UTC

it's middle eastern pagan if anything

2018-10-19 18:35:10 UTC

there is a pretty good theory that the star of david is actually just 666

2018-10-19 18:35:23 UTC

6 points, 6 triangles, 6 sides ...

2018-10-19 18:35:32 UTC

I wonder if the symbol came in through Solomon's diverse wives...

2018-10-19 18:35:47 UTC

@MrBland - VA that's exactly where it came from

2018-10-19 18:35:58 UTC

@MrBland - VA Solomon was purported to be a sorcerer, no?

2018-10-19 18:36:14 UTC

Magus, wizard, etc.

2018-10-19 18:36:30 UTC

he was and after he was granted "wisdom" from God he abandoned God and started practicing other religions of his wives

2018-10-19 18:36:41 UTC

I believe it, through part of his life anyway.

2018-10-19 18:36:46 UTC

@Wood-Ape - OK/MN you mean Saurumon, I think

2018-10-19 18:36:47 UTC

which is where the Kabballah comes from

2018-10-19 18:37:17 UTC

I firmly believe the star of david is the "mark of the beast"

2018-10-19 18:37:23 UTC

@Ald I've always felt Polish, but I don't wanna be a subverter, so I'll support white American interests

2018-10-19 18:37:35 UTC

it makes sense in the New Testament the Jews are referred to as the synagogue of satan

2018-10-19 18:37:45 UTC

I agree but Americanness is a natural extension of Englishness I guess

2018-10-19 18:37:55 UTC

I love Ecclesiastes, that man definitely had some wisdom.

2018-10-19 18:38:18 UTC

Too bad he squandered it for so much of his life.

2018-10-19 18:38:21 UTC

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Key_of_Solomon

The text is likely NOT of ancient origin, but perhaps inspired by earlier lost works

2018-10-19 18:38:28 UTC

Also, the idea that two "Americans" of different races will have more in common than two whites is absurd

2018-10-19 18:39:05 UTC

I've been to 18 countries and there's no way I have more in common with a black American than a Norweigan

2018-10-19 18:39:16 UTC

@Ald no LMAO-ing white religious denominations

2018-10-19 18:39:18 UTC

@Procella Eques Wasn't that just the Pharisees referred to as the synagogue of Satan by other Jews telling them they weren't being Jewish correctly

2018-10-19 18:39:41 UTC

@ThisIsChris Sorry I kind of assumed there are not IE Anglicans
