Thor is meant to be a headstrong warrior, Zeus is a lustful patriarch, Hera the Jealous wife, etc

2018-06-14 05:22:02 UTC

it's an easier way to express big ideas

2018-06-14 05:22:05 UTC

They're chariacatures of people

2018-06-14 05:22:09 UTC

They are far more than that

2018-06-14 05:22:09 UTC

2018-06-14 05:22:34 UTC

I know they have other aspects, but first and foremost they're things we thought up

2018-06-14 05:22:40 UTC

2018-06-14 05:22:55 UTC

2018-06-14 05:23:51 UTC

You cant just read homer and think you know greek

2018-06-14 05:23:58 UTC

wat

2018-06-14 05:24:21 UTC

Or Hercules

2018-06-14 05:24:55 UTC

I'm not saying that mythology is ONLY a reflection of people

2018-06-14 05:25:10 UTC

It has other aspects, like morality and storytelling and other cultural shit

2018-06-14 05:25:20 UTC

But that's the aspect I'm focusing on

2018-06-14 05:25:22 UTC

I played the first god of war when it came out, I pretty much know everything about mythology now

2018-06-14 05:25:30 UTC

The thing is. The tales were used to try to bring their other aspects better to human perception and understand I ng

2018-06-14 05:25:52 UTC

What aspects?

2018-06-14 05:25:52 UTC

Focusing on one aspect makes an ignorant arguement

2018-06-14 05:26:17 UTC

It would be like me saying athiests are dumb cause they are all just edgybois

2018-06-14 05:26:22 UTC

Oh, I meant I'm focusing on that in the context of what I was discussing earlier

2018-06-14 05:26:30 UTC

Not like I focus on that all the time

2018-06-14 05:27:01 UTC

i think religion came about when really smart people tried and failed to explain things to the rest of the tribe, so they came up with stories to help

2018-06-14 05:27:49 UTC

The key is. Gods and Goddesses always have aspects of what isnt understood. That is their key. Looking human, having human qualities were added in the tales to make them more understandable and more relatable. As well as to codify the morality they portray.

2018-06-14 05:28:04 UTC
2018-06-14 05:28:25 UTC

Yeah, they explain stuff like morality and critical thinking

2018-06-14 05:28:29 UTC

And as humans understood more of the world around them. Those powers lowered and number of gods needed did as well

2018-06-14 05:28:37 UTC

Or help people towards understanding the concepts behind them

2018-06-14 05:29:11 UTC

Religion today more or less covers what happens after death, before life, and the soul

2018-06-14 05:29:21 UTC

the big three science hasnt explained

2018-06-14 05:29:49 UTC

Well technically all three of those deal with the concousness or soul

2018-06-14 05:30:04 UTC

how to live is still important too, but i basically agree with that

2018-06-14 05:30:15 UTC

The morality is tied around the after death

2018-06-14 05:30:24 UTC

Thats how they justify it

2018-06-14 05:30:54 UTC

Which was an easier form in ancient days.

2018-06-14 05:31:28 UTC

I think the guiding and controlling aspect of religion is the part I care about most, or see the most utility in

2018-06-14 05:31:30 UTC

The japanese operate differently. They have always been more about honor sociatally. To the point the west never was

2018-06-14 05:32:30 UTC

But they still honor their folklore as faith as well. apraying on new year and such traditions still are around.

2018-06-14 05:33:41 UTC

Now after all that. I feel I have to specify I am not Christian or any of the main three curently ruling the world
