Why do people believe Russia poses a threat again?

Misinformation and people tapping into the old *red scare*. Same goes for people that think china is a bigger powerhouse than it is.

Russia still has power projecting capabilities

the Russians state has shown itself willing to use these capabilities in conventional and non conventional means

Russia also knows its place economically. So wont do anything stupid enough to force EU or US hand.

Russia still has loads of levarage over the EU

and there isnt much the US can do without pushing them to the chinese arms

which is a worse outcome since China is the only country right now that can become a hegemon

and so far its been more the US and the EU pushing Russia
