Today's reading, "Character is Fate"

2018-10-29 11:49:01 UTC

Seneca, Moral Letters 47.15b

2018-10-29 11:49:55 UTC

"Each person acquires their own character, but their official roles are designed by chance. You should invite some to your table because they are deserving, others because they may come to deserve it."

2018-10-29 11:50:49 UTC

As Identitarians involved in this struggle for our people and ultimately against nihilism, we need to keep two things in mind with regards to character.

2018-10-29 11:51:34 UTC

1. That we must strive to have the most upright character we can to be an example.

2018-10-29 11:52:32 UTC

2. That when we see our own people failing to meet that standard, know that they may not be flawed and broken permanently, that they too are products of chance.

2018-10-29 12:09:01 UTC

Upright character...check

2018-10-29 12:21:07 UTC

@Roland Not a big fan of the Aeneid. It's an unnecessary sequel to the Oddyssey and the Iliad. It's the Force Awakens of classical Greco-Roman literature.

2018-10-29 12:26:38 UTC

@Virgil Harsh criticism right there. It's my first time reading it, so I guess I'll see if it's that bad.

2018-10-29 12:29:18 UTC

I try not too read too much, I'm overly " inspired " as it is

2018-10-29 12:29:23 UTC

@Roland It's not bad per se, just kind of unoriginal and uninspired. The whole thing was written as a subtle dig at Augustus.

2018-10-29 12:34:40 UTC
2018-10-29 12:38:52 UTC

@Virgil Interesting. I'll keep that in mind when I read it. Thanks for the feedback.

2018-10-29 12:50:57 UTC

@Roland No prob, I hope you enjoy it, despite the criticisms.

2018-10-29 12:54:57 UTC

Thumbs up that Freiheit guy in the comments.

2018-10-29 13:24:43 UTC

Interesting how the world's largest lawfirm is representing the C - ville commissioners pro Bono on their monument case

2018-10-29 13:29:06 UTC

Just a coincidence I suppose....

Is Jack pulling an Elon Musk and trying to steer his own ship into the ground?

2018-10-29 14:12:01 UTC

So it seems...

2018-10-29 14:12:25 UTC

The like feature is literally the only thing keeping people addicted to Twitter via the dopamine rush of getting them.

2018-10-29 14:14:15 UTC

Yeah. Not sure how this is gonna pan out...

2018-10-29 14:15:08 UTC

Gab for the win. Maybe. Never thought that would happen but cool.

2018-10-29 14:16:11 UTC

On a long enough timeline, if they manage to keep their noses above DNS "water," it may well play out that way...

2018-10-29 14:16:17 UTC

I dunno about Gab at this point, it'll be totally toxic to touch it for a while

2018-10-29 14:17:35 UTC

Thankfully, though, you can be anonymous, so while it won't be as handy for normy-friendly content creators with their names and faces out there, their followers and potential audiences could use it as a means of amplifying their messages.

2018-10-29 14:19:34 UTC

Not necessarily a good thing, but we may well see a stratification of social media, whereby the younger, less give-a-sh#t crowd moves toward Gab, while the X-ers and boombers lag behind to see how things go...

2018-10-29 14:20:10 UTC

Just spit-balling, though.

2018-10-29 14:22:27 UTC

Sucks, 'cause I was looking forward to the episode of Tuckah when things would get bad enough that he would finally shill for Gab, but that's not gonna happen now.

2018-10-29 14:23:51 UTC

Wow the new Apple News app's defaults is basically like reading CNN/It's Going Down/ NYT

2018-10-29 14:24:18 UTC

Let me see if I can manage a surprised face... Nah, I just look constipated.

2018-10-29 14:32:48 UTC

2018-10-29 14:35:10 UTC

Yeah, I don't think I've every used that particular degree of distortion 😂

2018-10-29 14:36:40 UTC

@ThisIsChris The "Pocket" news suggestions I get when I open a new tab in Firefox are the same. All lefitst rags spewing their bs.
