What and why is the world like this

2017-03-28 16:46:52 UTC

Kek, this is a Bernie movement

2017-03-28 16:47:01 UTC

The "Our revolution"

2017-03-28 16:51:36 UTC

When will all the commies fight over each other?

2017-03-28 16:53:59 UTC

They all hate eachother.

2017-03-28 16:54:08 UTC

While the right likes eachother.

2017-03-28 16:54:21 UTC

Except the Islamists.

2017-03-28 16:54:52 UTC

Left/right dicotomy doesn't work for world politics.

2017-03-28 16:54:53 UTC

Depends on where you put them on the scale actually.

2017-03-28 16:55:01 UTC

Yeah I guess you're right.

2017-03-28 16:55:32 UTC

Reminds me of the "Ascended" political compass meme.

2017-03-28 16:56:38 UTC

Its really just a relative and somewhat arbritrary scale based on the current politics of a country.

2017-03-28 16:59:12 UTC

It reminds me of when the women at the women's march wore burkas and shouted allah akbar and cried...

2017-03-28 17:00:04 UTC

For example, someone who believes that women should avoid having a career, but should have the same legal rights as men, would be left wing in saudi arabia, but right wing in America.

2017-03-28 17:01:49 UTC

Also, someone who believes Islam should be protected by blasphemy laws is right wing in the middle east, but the liberal prime minster in Canada.

2017-03-28 17:02:27 UTC

kek

2017-03-28 17:02:40 UTC

While someone who believes you should be able to say anything, no matter how hateful, against islam and muslims is a far left radical in every muslim country, but a right wing racist in the west.

2017-03-28 17:03:19 UTC

I guess I just didn't think about the compass for countries that are not western.

2017-03-28 17:06:45 UTC

Political compasses are really not too useful in general.

2017-03-28 17:07:49 UTC

Yeah, being moral makes you authoritarian.

2017-03-28 17:07:57 UTC

You can be center right if you are strongly for capitalism but kindof ok with degeneracy, but you can also be center right if you hate degeneracy but think socialism might have a few merits.

2017-03-28 17:08:04 UTC

And there is also that.

2017-03-28 17:08:07 UTC

Which is pretty dumb because I always advocate both morality and liberty.

2017-03-28 17:08:54 UTC

If you have very strick personal morals, but are willing to tolerate people who don't follow them, you will agree on policy with a lot of people on the left.

2017-03-28 17:09:06 UTC

But you will be placed on the right.

2017-03-28 17:09:33 UTC

Or if you are placed on the left, then you will be placed with people who you disagree with on most issues other than policy.

2017-03-28 17:12:13 UTC

Also, someone who leans left on most issues, but doesn't have a strong opinion on those issues, but has a few right wing issues that they care about a whole lot (like immigration) will be placed on the left, even though they would likely vote right.

2017-03-28 17:12:25 UTC

I am as Darty described
