Very very short version. Guy's girlfriend cheats on him. He calls her out. Girl's friends, who have some small influence, decide to call anyone who plays videogames is the devil. Others disagree. Much fun was had by those that disagree. Lots of salt mining was done. Since then, a lot of people who were against the movement have been implicated to various degrees in all manner of sexual misconduct.
