Football is chad

2018-11-09 03:30:29 UTC

nah there was massive opposition to football in the past

2018-11-09 03:30:32 UTC

at least watching it

2018-11-09 03:30:43 UTC

@Jacob yeah those were nerds

2018-11-09 03:30:43 UTC

Whitaker literally played for Iowa state

2018-11-09 03:30:44 UTC

@Jacob we've improved our optics since then

2018-11-09 03:30:53 UTC

Truthfully, the subways in China even are cleaner than the ones in New York

2018-11-09 03:30:54 UTC

huh interesting, so football is cool now

2018-11-09 03:30:58 UTC

FoOtBaLl iSn'T HeGeLiAn

2018-11-09 03:31:04 UTC

The New York subway is disgusting

2018-11-09 03:31:22 UTC

@ophiuchus true. Though it gets pretty seedy in China too. Even in Hong Kong.

2018-11-09 03:31:32 UTC

@ophiuchus NY subway is awful

2018-11-09 03:31:32 UTC

I mean, I'm a neutral observer. I was never interested in football. Not out of principal, I genuinely never found it interesting.

2018-11-09 03:31:35 UTC

SF Subway is even worse

2018-11-09 03:31:38 UTC

@ophiuchus yes it is, but it runs 24/7, in theory at least

2018-11-09 03:31:51 UTC

I think it's one of the cooler sports because it involves a lot of strategy

2018-11-09 03:31:57 UTC
2018-11-09 03:32:02 UTC

I love riding the yellow line sitting next to a puddle of stagnant pee to be hauled away by rats at the canal street stop

2018-11-09 03:32:04 UTC

And concussions

2018-11-09 03:32:07 UTC

Football is boring imo.

2018-11-09 03:32:10 UTC

Hockey is the only white team mainstream team sport

2018-11-09 03:32:28 UTC

(I played football......)

2018-11-09 03:32:53 UTC

@Alexander Pechorin China’s super weird. It’s incredibly seedy but I never once felt in danger there. I felt safer walking through Shanghai than I do walking through New York

2018-11-09 03:32:54 UTC

I understand the argument against football in the way it currently exists. That people use an arbitrary team as a replacement for a real identity. But I mean, I'm not an expert on it. I'm pretty neutral to it since I was just never into it.

2018-11-09 03:33:31 UTC

One reason to like football: communists hate football

2018-11-09 03:33:42 UTC

I only really got into it the past few years honestly. But I do think in such an atomized society, anything that brings these regions together for some sense of altruism is nice

2018-11-09 03:34:22 UTC

I think it watching football easily becomes a waste of time and misdirects your sense of belonging to something fake. But I mean I'm not gonna judge people for watching it in moderation.

2018-11-09 03:34:23 UTC

I think being a fan of your regional team creates a communtiy and fills a bit of the hole atomization creates

2018-11-09 03:34:33 UTC

I guess

2018-11-09 03:34:53 UTC

I don't think it would be an issue if the teams actually were rooted in the regions they claim to be from

2018-11-09 03:35:01 UTC

@Kingfish unless ur a Patriots fan

2018-11-09 03:35:07 UTC

Pats gay

2018-11-09 03:35:11 UTC

No u

2018-11-09 03:35:12 UTC

Being at sports games is about 4 trillion times more enjoyable than watching them on tv

2018-11-09 03:35:14 UTC

I live in New England, so it's kind of cool how people here love such a white team.

2018-11-09 03:35:29 UTC

Pats are Trump's team

2018-11-09 03:35:38 UTC

Being at events is actually socializing and being around the live energy of the event.

2018-11-09 03:35:42 UTC

Pats are the huwhitest team.

2018-11-09 03:35:42 UTC

If watching football makes you happy and gives you a way to insert yourself into mainstream culture without being counterproductive, go for it, I guess

2018-11-09 03:35:47 UTC

Lol pats fans still salty

2018-11-09 03:36:07 UTC

Yeah, I'm from Philly so I was happy we won, but then moved to NEW England and now want the pats to win.
