The funny thing is, immigrants are a net drain once you add up federal, state, and local budgets. So, even if we had an immigration policy based on the standard of "pay muh taxes", we'd have far less immigration.

Immigration advocated use this dirty trick where they *only* count federal budget impact to say that immigrants are a net benefit. Even then, they ignore a lot of federal spending and they add some line in the article about how "we couldn't determine how much money in this category goes to immigrants, so we just left it out lol"

...and even if they were, how could we count on government statisticians to actually acknowledge and record that fact?

First thing I learned in statistics class is how they're manipulated to serve agendas. Very red pilling.

@Deleted User Skilled immigrants are probably a net gain for the budget, but they ruin the country in other ways, demographics aside. For example, they remove the need to invest in education for American students, since employers can just bring someone in on an H1B.

@Bjorn - MD The NAS study is pretty good. Government studies generally include pretty detailed explanations of the methodology, the it's fairly easy to find the good ones.
