The main issue is the globalist/neoliberal power structure.

2018-11-14 21:13:41 UTC

SJWs? lol

Media, finance, big tech, academia, NGOs

2018-11-14 21:14:04 UTC

Establishment politicians

2018-11-14 21:14:18 UTC

Immigration is a big issue but it stems from hostile governance

2018-11-14 21:14:26 UTC

@Reinhard Wolff Absolutely. If we change our immigration policy, it still won't solve all of our domestic issues.

2018-11-14 21:14:40 UTC

We need a new ruling elite.

2018-11-14 21:14:57 UTC

I'm here 😎

Your time has come...

Indeed *looks off into the distance dramatically*

2018-11-14 21:16:30 UTC

Do you think the protrump republicans doing better than the moderate republicans in the midterms could be considered an indication that the power of the ruling elite is shifting? Specifically when it comes to establishment politicians

2018-11-14 21:16:47 UTC

@Bjorn - MD @Bjorn - MD *with a squint*

2018-11-14 21:19:00 UTC

Will, I think that just indicates that the will of the people has shifted.

2018-11-14 21:19:20 UTC

I suppose that comes long before any substantial change

2018-11-14 21:19:27 UTC

It's indicative that an anti-globalist/pro-populist wing is growing within the GOP as well.

2018-11-14 21:19:34 UTC

What I was trying to express is that it's worth it for Trump to face the backlash if it means restricting immigration. I could be wrong, though. Maybe it's better to play the long game.

2018-11-14 21:19:36 UTC

Or rather Trump has opened up space for politicians who are willing to offer people what they’ve wanted for a while.

2018-11-14 21:19:50 UTC

Remains to be seen whether anything substantial will come of it though.

2018-11-14 21:19:57 UTC

But the powers that be are still the powers that be.

2018-11-14 21:20:03 UTC

I'd like to see the republican party become what the democrats were 20 years ago in a sense. The working mans party rather than the country club party

2018-11-14 21:20:22 UTC

I guess it won't really matter if Trump shuts down immigration today but the power structure remains, since they'll just revert his changes

2018-11-14 21:20:41 UTC

we'd have to take on more than corporate tax cuts then @William Russell

2018-11-14 21:20:47 UTC

but i'm with you

2018-11-14 21:21:04 UTC

Trump is like a Wikipedia editor right now. He can edit whatever he wants, but the admins are just gonna revert it. He needs to get more friendly admins in.

2018-11-14 21:21:10 UTC

More or less, Jacob. We need a holistic overhaul of the power structures in America.

2018-11-14 21:21:30 UTC

Jim Jordan got slaughtered in the vote for minority leader, establishment pushed their puppet McCarthy overwhelmingly. Shift hasn’t really done much to change our ruling elite, they’re still in control. I wish the populist wing had been able to win that one, but just saw those results.

2018-11-14 21:21:51 UTC

Replace globalist/progressive henchmen with nationalists, use the aforementioned institutions to promulgate a new ruling ideology (nationalism).

2018-11-14 21:22:08 UTC

@Jacob great analogy re: wiki. lol

2018-11-14 21:22:13 UTC

Is it possible that it represents that more people are turning away from the republican party? Or did most of the red counties stay red in the election?

2018-11-14 21:22:54 UTC

Probably the most fundamental action for Trump to take right now is to stack the courts. Not just the Supreme Court. There are about 8,000 federal judges, and something like 1/4th of those are going vacant in Trump's first time. Stacking those positions would be huge.

2018-11-14 21:23:00 UTC

@Papa Pizzagate Glad you liked it

2018-11-14 21:24:32 UTC

Nationalism is where it will start. I used to think Populism was it until Trump dropped the N word. It's just semantics but then again it's a meaningful word people with common ideas can collectivize behind. I'd like to see other politicians use this language.

2018-11-14 21:25:31 UTC

We need a banner to get behind as a people. MAGA, Nationalism, America First are all great. I hope to see a drastic transformation of the GOP in my lifetime

2018-11-14 21:28:16 UTC

It's ok to be a nationalist.

2018-11-14 21:29:49 UTC

The left has been A/B testing white people on how to best tell us that we're going to be a minority. This is discussed in the book Whiteshift. We definitely need to look at this research very carefully, because it's just as useful to us as it is to them. I was wondering, however, if we should also be doing our own research. Would it be difficult to conduct our own research? Maybe we can pay people like a few cents each to do a survey on Amazon Mechanical Turk or something like that.

@Nemets LA GOP?

2018-11-14 21:30:43 UTC

Does that exist?

2018-11-14 21:31:08 UTC

Maybe Louisiana GOP
