The only diversity we need is for northerners and southerners to join houses <:4dchess:439923932062154782>

2018-11-17 02:00:38 UTC

Yeah, Britain only paid off the debt of freeing slaves around 2014

2018-11-17 02:00:58 UTC

So modern Britons ended slavery directly

2018-11-17 02:02:40 UTC

Many heroes on both sides. Unnecessary conflict. A costly lesson.

2018-11-17 02:03:01 UTC

Whether you live in the mountains of Arkansas or Maine, they're coming for us all.

2018-11-17 02:03:24 UTC

Imagine what we could've achieved if neither side lost their great men <:sad:366743316475281408>

2018-11-17 02:03:50 UTC

Chances are we wouldn't even be having this discussion right now

2018-11-17 02:04:10 UTC

A really great series of stories came out of the Spanish American war, when former Confederate and Union soldiers fought side by side to build essentially the American Golden Age of Empire, led by Theodore Roosevelt, the son of southern and northern families

2018-11-17 02:07:15 UTC

Dude, Imagine if
-The best parts of the North, industrialism, and calm witted resiliance...

Mixed with,
-The best of the South, rugged independence, stubborn desire to fight for every inch of their freedom

America would have been a juggernaut.

2018-11-17 02:09:54 UTC

So...America from 1880 to 1914

2018-11-17 02:10:19 UTC

America was a juggernaut

2018-11-17 02:11:28 UTC

@missliterallywho Wait, did you suggest it, too? Because I remember Server Admin making it shortly after I said we should.

2018-11-17 02:11:56 UTC

Reconstruction did suck though

2018-11-17 02:12:32 UTC

@metasophocles I would contend that the culture of the south was mostly destroyed during reconstruction.

2018-11-17 02:13:09 UTC

America from 1880-1914 was run almost exclusively by NorthEastern Elites.

2018-11-17 02:13:13 UTC

Black confederate man asking for gibs in confederate money, I'm dyin

2018-11-17 02:13:56 UTC

Is it actually possible for history to be burned into the genome?

2018-11-17 02:14:16 UTC

@Tyler0317 I would agree the aristocratic nature of the south was destroyed, but the rugged individualism of westward expansion was implicitly southern

2018-11-17 02:14:47 UTC

i think reconstruction made the culture of the south even stronger

2018-11-17 02:14:57 UTC

@metasophocles I'd agree with that.

2018-11-17 02:14:59 UTC

after it was over there was a big reaction

2018-11-17 02:15:22 UTC

@metasophocles yea my family had to torch our wealth on the docks.
If that didn't happen, I'd be IE's personal Soros

2018-11-17 02:15:28 UTC

@Thugged Out Pissed Off Look what became of it tho.

2018-11-17 02:16:33 UTC

@Goose Same.

My family was 1/2 Plantation elites and 1/2 middle class tradesmen.

After reconstruction, they were all made to be paupers.

2018-11-17 02:17:40 UTC

I’ve recently started the process of joining SAR. Director ancestor fought in revolution then settled in Tennessee

2018-11-17 02:17:42 UTC

Having been in both the north and the south. The North is far superior and also has a lot less blegs. But The removal of confederate stuff really really gets under my skin for some reason.

2018-11-17 02:18:04 UTC

🙊

2018-11-17 02:18:14 UTC

I can't even comprehend conducting strategies of "Total War" against my literal cousins.

Strange times.

2018-11-17 02:18:38 UTC

@Tyler0317 ah so your family as well were involved in the transport of cheap labor and farm equipment?

Tobacco planters in VA

2018-11-17 02:19:14 UTC

@Tyler0317 Have you ever read "The South Was Right" by Walter Kennedy?

2018-11-17 02:19:36 UTC

@Axel No.

Im googling now

2018-11-17 02:19:51 UTC

Walter* not Ronald

2018-11-17 02:21:42 UTC

@Tyler0317 ah, farmers... 😒

2018-11-17 02:22:02 UTC

Joking of course

2018-11-17 02:22:25 UTC

Should check out some of the original stuff. Rise and Fall of the Confederacy by Jefferson Davis is very interesting

2018-11-17 02:22:31 UTC

I only recently got into Southern Apologetics.@Axel Thanks for the tip.

@Goose They had "help". 😉

2018-11-17 02:22:54 UTC

No problem, haha

I grew up around my Grandfather and his old man friends.

I picked up most of the Southern world view from their discussions.

2018-11-17 02:24:49 UTC

Unsurprisingly, my grandfather is the most supportive of the efforts of our group.
