They arrest hundreds in completely peaceful protests
He said 'succumbing to medical emergencies'... that could literally be anything. I already said that I don't know the details of each death, and I already said it's all terrible.... not sure why there's a debate on this.
yeah I'm sure they do. What wouldn't they when there's no provocation.
it matters on regards of criminal liability and determining guilt
Could the capitol leadership be prosecuted for failure to do their duties??
not really, more likely asked to step down,
Well yes, I agree with that. I meant I'm not sure what the debate is for Dedkraken and I on this matter.
or firmly suggest them to step down.
The water poisoning of Flint is being prosecuted
6 years too late for that almost
About time! Should of happened years ago
I think Trump better hope that they find some proof of widespread voter fraud, because I predict that every family is going to include him in their suits. Had he not lied about there being fraud, their loved ones would likely still be alive. I bet there are tens of thousands of lawyers that would take that case on.
Yea, that's crazy it took so long.
Trumps got lots of problems coming š
I'd think you have to make a really strong case that him spouting that would make him responsible for what they did after the fact. Especially when many of them acted of their own volition
That'd be like trying to convince a judge that some polls work as voter suppression
He's the source of the fraud claims... He called those people to DC... Him and his surrogates used provocative speech that reasonable people could interpret as a call to action. I think there is a case to be made and lawyers love to be on TV. All it takes is a sympathetic jury in a civil case.
I agree. I was watching live streams as all this happened, and I didn't think he was inciting anything, but people obviously see what he said differently.
Trump specifically said they would go to the capitol and be peaceful. Your major news networks won't have told you that, though. They always skip that sentence of the speech.
Again, it's a really huge stretch, and then you would have to link his speech to them choosing to storm the capitol
Yeah our economy has gone to shit. Thatās what happens during a pandemic and lockdowns. Look round the world, we arenāt alone.
I know exactly what was said... I still think there is a case that can be made in a civil case and I predict that it will happen.
That'd be like someone trying to prosecute Bernie Sanders because of that one guy who used his speech when he chose to shoot GOP congressional reps at that baseball game
@Tom(FTP/Dwarves) what is peaceful. Zip ties. Guns. Bombs. Spears. Maze. Bats...militia...and screaming hang mike Pence. Heads on spike..shot them with their guns.
I just don't see it holding up to scrutiny,
You might also note that Trump was still speaking when the capitol was broken into, so it wasn't the people he was speaking to who did it.
@Tom(FTP/Dwarves), you just advanced to level 2!
This is kinda like everyone calling COVID the 'Trump virus'... even though it literally came from China...
I have no doubt it'll be attempted, but it likely won't go very far
@Beth we could've handled better as the most powerful nation on planet earth
Instead we are the worst. How come.??
Yeah everyoneās like āLook how many cases we have compared to European countriesā.. well we test more an we are huge compared to individual European countries. But yano, itās trumps fault, obviously š¤¦š¼āāļø
I don't think anyone disagrees that it might could have been handled better. You don't always get it right the first time... and no one has ever dealt with this before.
yeah, we can bomb people with impunity in other countries but can't find an extra dozen boots on the ground to stop Quanon conspiracy theorists from breaking windows and stealing podiums
Hind-sight is 20/20... it's easy to look back and say 'we could have done better'.... it's another to act like someone had all the answers on exactly what to do and did nothing.
Yes?
@Beth, you just advanced to level 26!
No you don't... You have to convince a jury in a civil trial that without Trump falsely claiming fraud, calling people to DC to fight on his behalf... Having his lawyer call for a trial by combat... His son called for fighting. He sent them to convince Congress to do the right thing. And all hell breaks loose right after Trump tweets that Pence, in essence, betrayed them.
All you have to do is make the case that Trump's actions directly contributed to what happened - and the standard of proof is lower. The cases would never see their day in court, though... Trump will have to settle each one.
