Should the US convert to metric?
It does make us unique I don’t know if I would consider it a cultural influencer but it would be one of the first things you would notice
The history of metrology is pretty interesting, the US standard inch was finalized by Swedish manufacturing to more easily convert to metric around ww1
I was stretching lol
We did we begin to differ from England as far as metric systems go
The US figured out the standard railroad gauge quicker than most. Or was able to implement it anyhow
@William Russell Join voice chat,
Yeah each town had its own derivation of cubits and feet, but local nutrition could massively influence the measurement only few miles away
@Tyler0317 I would if I wasn’t in bed
Pregnant wife would be angry waking up hearing me talk about measurement systems
@William Russell The Waifu won't mind.
Babbe, I'm just chatting with the NoHomoBros
Haha it’s only Tyler 😉

The water is warm
I’ll admit I’ve never gotten on to voice chat in here
I always imagined a lot of people talking over each other. Is it chill?
yeah, theres only 4 of us
@metasophocles what do you mean about local nutrition? In relation to intelligence?
Does look like a cozy crew @Tyler0317
Wow lol that’s a lot of ways to skin a cat
Did the jews come in and tidy everything up?
@William Russell the average size of the man was used to determine the length of measure so healthier towns with bigger men had bigger units of measure
Lol that’s sorta funny. That makes sense. I could see them using their actual feet to measure things
@Nemets I’m lacking in the Victorian era. It only recently had any appeal to me
My weakest area of history for sure @Nemets you’re very knowledgeable. Out of curiosity what time in history would you say is your least knowledgeable?
Really the American Civil war has kind of inspired me to study it a little bit to understand the global context

Cindy Hyde-Smith is up for reelection in Mississippi a week from now.
She made a joke about attending a public hanging. A photo of her posing with Confederate war relics just resurfaced, and she joked about preventing liberal college kids from voting. Her opponent is a black man. Do we think she'll lose on Tuesday?
let's make this matzo
Depends. Where again? @Hakujin - CA
