I'm a big adherent of the proverb "you can't reason somebody out of something that they weren't reasoned into to begin with". I think mercilessly mocking their "sexual preference" would lead to a big drop in this behavior.

My sister is a "lesbian" and I bullycide her every so often. It rustles her more than any facts or statistics I throw out. I believe it's because most homos are just trying to gain social status.
@GDoctor you may be right on a cultural sense. Society does also need honest scientific explainations as well. Luckily science supports us that these states of living are harmful.

I think the Scientific approach just gets bogged down in Talmudry and hair-splitting. That's why there is always this push to prove every point with an 8-page thesis cited in MLA format.
