You know what the quran says?

And do not insult those they invoke other than Allāh, lest they insult Allāh in enmity without knowledge. Thus We have made pleasing to every community their deeds. Then to their Lord is their return, and He will inform them about what they used to do.

It says we cannot insult other gods

There shall be no compulsion in [acceptance of] the religion. The right course has become distinct from the wrong. So whoever disbelieves in ṭāghūt and believes in Allāh has grasped the most trustworthy handhold with no break in it. And Allāh is Hearing and Knowing.

[Al-Kahf: 29]
And say, "The truth is from your Lord, so whoever wills - let him believe; and whoever wills - let him disbelieve." Indeed, We have prepared for the wrongdoers a fire whose walls will surround them. And if they call for relief, they will be relieved with water like murky oil, which scalds [their] faces. Wretched is the drink, and evil is the resting place.

And to let people disbelieve, allah will judge them

“Kufr” translated to disbelief isn’t atheist, it’s someone who knows islam is true but rejects it

Not every atheist is a “kafir”

﴿عَسَى اللَّهُ أَن يَجعَلَ بَينَكُم وَبَينَ الَّذينَ عادَيتُم مِنهُم مَوَدَّةً وَاللَّهُ قَديرٌ وَاللَّهُ غَفورٌ رَحيمٌ﴾ [Al-Mumtahanah: 7]
Perhaps Allāh will put, between you and those to whom you have been enemies among them, affection. And Allāh is competent, and Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.

﴿لا يَنهاكُمُ اللَّهُ عَنِ الَّذينَ لَم يُقاتِلوكُم فِي الدّينِ وَلَم يُخرِجوكُم مِن دِيارِكُم أَن تَبَرّوهُم وَتُقسِطوا إِلَيهِم إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ المُقسِطينَ﴾ [Al-Mumtahanah: 8]
Allāh does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes - from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, Allāh loves those who act justly.

﴿إِنَّما يَنهاكُمُ اللَّهُ عَنِ الَّذينَ قاتَلوكُم فِي الدّينِ وَأَخرَجوكُم مِن دِيارِكُم وَظاهَروا عَلى إِخراجِكُم أَن تَوَلَّوهُم وَمَن يَتَوَلَّهُم فَأُولئِكَ هُمُ الظّالِمونَ﴾ [Al-Mumtahanah: 9]
Allāh only forbids you from those who fight you because of religion and expel you from your homes and aid in your expulsion - [forbids] that you make allies of them. And whoever makes allies of them, then it is those who are the wrongdoers.
