@⚡Clark⚡ To address your question, because there's such a numerical imbalance between Russians and other Slavs, allowing the former to indulge chauvinistic, imperialist, and revanchist tendencies.

2018-11-25 22:46:31 UTC

That’s right

2018-11-25 22:47:14 UTC

..and mind you, I say this as a Russophile.

2018-11-25 22:47:30 UTC

Hopefully, the Intermarium will be a game-changer in that respect.

2018-11-25 22:50:18 UTC

Ukraine and Russia may go to war

2018-11-25 22:50:21 UTC

Like right now

2018-11-25 22:50:52 UTC

It'd be one thing if the Russian government were genuinely nationalist, or even Pan-Slavist, but so long as they retain this sovok ("race-blind" NPCs who grew up during the Soviet period) mindset, I'm gonna have to remain critical.

2018-11-25 22:51:14 UTC

Damn the boys have been at it today!

2018-11-25 22:51:31 UTC

@Sam Anderson Big time!

2018-11-25 23:00:09 UTC

Ukraine gonna be screaming for NATO and EU.

2018-11-25 23:01:18 UTC

Mhmm...

2018-11-25 23:02:03 UTC

*Jens Stoltenberg hand-rubbing intensifies...*

2018-11-25 23:02:16 UTC

Lol they basically might declare a state of war and then not do anything aggressive

2018-11-25 23:02:45 UTC

I swear to god if Ukraine joins NATO and triggers a mutual defense clause causing US to go to war w Russia

2018-11-25 23:02:53 UTC

What's Russia's excuse for what they did?

2018-11-25 23:03:01 UTC

Crimea belongs to Russia

2018-11-25 23:03:02 UTC

Their public statement

2018-11-25 23:03:05 UTC

@NateDahl76 It's possible, but even just making invoking that legal distinction might have far-reaching implications...

2018-11-25 23:03:17 UTC

Ukraine is already West aligned post coup

2018-11-25 23:04:17 UTC

@Sam Southern - TN NATO won't take Ukraine in, at least formally, because they don't want to incur an Article 5 obligation, the need to declare war if a member state is attacked (or portrayed as being attacked).

2018-11-25 23:04:54 UTC

Ya that’s what I’m talking about lol. Who makes the call on letting in nations, US and who else?

2018-11-25 23:05:03 UTC

The whole membership.

2018-11-25 23:05:19 UTC

Ukraine couldn’t join NATO quick enough

2018-11-25 23:05:29 UTC

Hm, I was hoping it’d be a smaller group of nations. Does it have to be a consensus, or is it a simple majority?

2018-11-25 23:06:05 UTC

Look out for larger and larger shipments of ever more significant weaponry, though, combined with a further racheting up of sanctions.

2018-11-25 23:06:28 UTC

@Sam Southern - TN I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it has to be a consensus.

2018-11-25 23:06:48 UTC

NATO members vote with big guys having veto power. Although in this case with Russia being aggressor state they cant veto

2018-11-25 23:07:40 UTC

US should veto for sure then. Let’s hope trump doesn’t cuck and fold

2018-11-25 23:07:46 UTC

If it even gets that far

2018-11-25 23:08:22 UTC

For sure, but there's a significant number of countries that are wary of the risk of open conflict with Russia, including some whose long-term economic strategies are entwined with Russian economic interests, the most prominent being Germany.

2018-11-25 23:09:14 UTC

Germany wouldn’t hesitate to go against Russia tho, especially if merkel thinks they can depose Putin and put some globohomo shill there in his place

2018-11-25 23:09:32 UTC

Still get the pipeline and no Putin

2018-11-25 23:09:47 UTC

Ukraine can still cry to NATO and they'll ask Russia to behave themselves.

2018-11-25 23:09:48 UTC

Merkel will be out before Putin, and she's thirsty for that Nord Stream 2 gas.

2018-11-25 23:10:39 UTC

Merkel would be hesitant if she isn't sure USA will support. They won't be the aggressor

2018-11-25 23:10:50 UTC

Russia can cut off the natural gas to Europe and they will freeze this coming winter and start to really miss nuclear energy, plus I doubt if we can sanction Russia anymore than we already do

2018-11-25 23:11:39 UTC

@Josh M. -OH That, too, but we can definitely count on the "deep state" (or whatever other term you want to attribute to it) to try to force the President's hand.
